I was wondering if anyone knows of any Kayak Fishing Clubs in the Portland OR and Vancouver WA areas.
I thought it would be fun to talk with other Kayak Fisherman in person along with informative info on fishing techniques raffles or what ever?

Beyond NWKA here, nothing that I know of.  We do have our Angler of the Year tournament (which I'm looking forward to next year >:D).  Its a Catch & Photograph type tournament so size can be verified.  There are some pretty cool prizes out there for AOTY.

We also have the annual Oregon Rockfish Classic every September (well, at least the last two!).  Lots of prizes and raffle opportunities at the ORC too.

Kayak fishing is new to the NW so I believe that WE are IT.  But NWKA is pretty well represented in the PDX Metro area.  I've fished with at least 8 other PDX area members in the last year.

I was thinking it would be cool to have a little get together once a month. Any other thoughts? Just throwing it out there... :)

Don't worry, you'll find plenty of support here!

Hi, my name is yaknitup, and I can't stop thinking about catching big halibut off my kayak, but I don't think I have a problem...
Am I in denial? And if I am on a river in Egypt, what do they use for bait there?

Ifish "salty dogs" did or do this (don't really follow them anymore since I sold the boat)  Used to meet for pizza and beer (old school pizza parlors worked well, cheap, lots of table space, used to large groups..etc..)  Each monthly meeting one or two salts would do a little how to for the newbies, tuna handlines, halibut rigs, rockfish flys etc etc. It had the atmosphere that the info shared with the group was meant to stay with the group. Somebody gives you some numbers for halibut,a how to on lingcod gear, salmon spinners etc they didn't expect to see them on the web the next day, or tell every one they know what they learned.. etc etc.   I went to a  few when I first got my offshore PB and they were amazingly helpful, and a great way to meet folks.  People were more likely to share face to face with people who took the time to show up and get to know each other instead of over the web for every lurker to steal.  I like the idea and would attend...  Pietro's' pizza (sp?) in Milwaukee was a good location.

Sounds like a good way to spend the winter months (other than steelhead and sturgeon fishing of course).

How about we set up one of these soon.  I haven't been there, but Pietro's in Milwaukie sounds good to me.  We could do a meet and greet along with covering a topic (gearing up for winter fishing, sturgeon, steelhead, etc..)

If all goes well, we can continue monthly or every other month in the Portland area.  Maybe we'd even move the location around a bit, say altering sides of the river each time.

Who's interested?

Also, don't forget AndyJade's BBQ in November at Henry Hagg Lake.

Sounds like fun to me.

I usually spend my Wednesdays and Thursdays fishing since that's my weekend.

I get a glazed over look from the soccer dads when I talk fishin'.  So I'm all over it.  7 pm weekday works for me.

There's a BBQ thread in the Chum Bucket section, for those of you that can access it.  No date or time has been decided.  Likely candidate is November 21st, since the lake closes the next day.  We'll figure it out and keep everyone posted.

Sounds good. I like the the idea of a discussion of sturgeon.
My vote goes for Thursday 7pm.
