Fish Trap are the only ones I ever see and no one carries more than a few different colors or the sizes.   I guess swimbaits are just not very popular up here.  I've had to stock up whenever I go to So Cal to see family.

Fishtraps were the orginal swimbaits to hit NorCal, well, that's what I remember buying in the 90's.  My tackle bag always had the good old Channel Island Chovie in it, as well whatever the color pattern was that had green instead of blue, and whatever the color pattern was that had purple instead of blue (the choviebaits).  It was years before I strayed beyond those 3 colors, but even then it wasn't far.  Halloween (and similar brownbaits) have always a good producers for me.  And white or glow (whitebaits) have earned a spot in the lineup under certain situations.  Bill's Creamsicle and sometimes something similar to BH's Strawberry also get used (the orangebaits or redbaits).  Hah!  Now that I listed them all, I think I covered the spectrum and the rest are all variants on a theme!!!

Good to know, I'll have to give them a try if I can find the sizes I like.

Some folks favor the Cocahoe line of swimbaits.  The 4in models in black back/wht belly and blue back/white belly can be very effective on rockfish.  I don't personally like them all that much as they seem a little dead in the action department and other plastic offerings fill the niche with more and better action.

IF and this is still a big IF I get to attend this shindig I can bring roundhead jigs that will match up to those Kalins real nice.  I pour them in 1,1.5,2,3,4,5,6 oz. sizes.  Also willing to trade out a few to other people.  Now if I can get the weekend cleared it would be great.

Jeff? look also locallly for the Storm brand.  They seem to be pretty darn tough. I know Warehouse Sports carried them last i was there...then soak in UniButter or your preference of fish oil scent maybe?

Storm plastics are almost too tough Rich.  They have more in common with our hull materials than they do with the consistency of anything a fish would find appetizing texture-wise.  This also makes it tough for them to absorb any kind of scent unless you pre-wash them with unscented dish soap to degrease them (to remove the mold release agent) and then apply the scent.

AHA! i knew someone would bring the other part of the puzzle... Thanks Amos...

I'd mentioned them as an alternative because of how quickly the Gulp products shred. and yeh, they are more of a vinyl than a softbait would normally be, which might be perfect for DIY ers

In general I find the storm lures with the integrated weights to be too light, but sometimes they can be worked effectively on calmer days.

I've especially done well on the Wildeye Live Anchovy.  Doesn't it look pretty?!?

They are one of my light tackle go to baits when the black rockfish are blasting on the surface.  They are not bad for pot holing in the kelp too, but I agree they are way to light for any deep water jigging.

Could probably rig them drop shot style above a 6oz ball.

Sort of defeats the purpose of having a jighead ...
