So here is a play by play on the rigging of my new Hobie Adventure Kayak.

I purchased a Hummingbird 385 and a Hobie fish finder install kit and installed the fish finder today.

I marine gooped the foam brick to the bottom of the boat behind the sail fixture after sanding and cleaning the area.  I duct tapped it down to hold it in place.
I let this dry for about two hours while I installed the mount and safety flag.

I purchased a ram mount because I want the fish finder to be adjustable and up high so I can see it over the pedals.  Here I marked the place for the screws, and began drilling.  I placed it to the right and not center because I am going to install a Scotty Rocket mount to the left.

I just did the double A battery pack for now, if it does not last long enough I will switch it out later with a larger pack.

After 2 hours and two beers I pulled the tape off of the foam puck and filled it with a 1/2 inch of marine goop.  Insert tranducer.  Zip tie extra line.  Bobs your uncle.

I did not drill a hole for the power supply and tranducer cords on this yak like i did on my OC prowler due to the convienance of just pulling the lines through the hatch.  I will probably change my mind, but I am trying to keep the adventure simple so I can run it out for sport as well as fishing.  Again I will probably change my mind...

So just a flag and fish finder so far waiting on the rod holder, and I will deffinitly get rod extenders.  Also using a milk crate for salt water (rod holders on the way) and a yakpak III for fresh water.

I will update as I rig over the next two weeks, would love advice for the group.

Looks like you are well on your way to blissfulness with your build.
Pimping a yak is therapy for me.

Nice yak work.  I agree it's a therapy thing, but that's what you do when your sick.

Some lengths of PVC/ABS zip-tied to the inside or outside of the milk crate make great rod holders.

I agree and the worst part is now I have to wait to take it out again!  Lingcod will be it's first test.

Just a basic 4 ft flag, recently saw the 4ft flags with lights on top.  Needless to say I had buyers remorse, though I never kayak at night...

Wait until you discover the Eastern WA lakes... you'll fish at night while camping.  It is amazingly peaceful.

Looks good!  I assume you are a left-handed caster?  If not, you may want to either center the flag or move it to the other side.  Being able to ambidextrously cast will be beneficial if you plan on doing any [bass] fishing around cover.

I must admit, working on the kayak is one of my favorite parts of the hobby.  I had some time today so I started working on my rod holders mounts.

I installed a round flush Scotty mount mount at the front of the yak, primarily to get it out of the way when I am not using it.  I installed the standard flush mount on the left side above the rudder pull cord as well.  This turned out to be a lot of work, I used a part of a pool noodle to hold the cords back, I wont lie I was paranoid about hitting the cords.   Getting to the bolts was a lot of work under the mount, not my favorite install but it went in clean.

I purchased a new battery today as well, the 8X AA did not last the entire Ling Cod trip with Fishnut so I obviously need to upgrade.  Thing about a back hatch install after seeing Demonicks post a while back.

I am a weird caster, I reel left handed.  Just a preference I tend to cast both ways, the flag is pretty far back though.  I will try some freshwater fishing again soon, interesting observation I will let you know if it impacts my spinner and crank bait fishing...  Kayak fishing is  all about getting snagged isn't it!

I realized that the hook up might work well with a pole light in the back too, especially if I put the battery in the back.

Wait till your trolling line finds the rudder!   >:(

Glad you said that, me too! It gets me in the zone. Next best thing to actually being out there fishing.

Second or third that motion. It also gets me in great physical shape by contorting my body getting into tight places(don't go there >:D)and many cuts and bruises.

I have the same FF which I mounted to my Adventure. I bought the Ram mount, but ended up not even using it. Instead I mounted it to a board which I mounted into the pre-exsisting screw inserts, didn't even have to drill the boat. Its up high enough and I can see the FF through the the middle of the peddals. I also have the cables routed under the front hatch for now. I can post pics later if its not hijacking.
