My two kayaks and canoe are on a rolling rack.  The Ram doesn't fit in the garage, too long!
This is a good solution!

That is awesome.

My problem is I don't even have space in my garage to put a rack in there.
Too many tools, projects and crap.   :-\

I may be able to build one along side the house, and drop a tarp down to block continuous exposure from the weather and sun.  8)

I can post mine again, but it is a rollling rack.  Works great for my use, but OP needs to get both cars in garage!

I'm onto a new angle.... store mine IN the kitchen ceiling.  I have 22" between the rafters and 16' or so usable length at 36" deep, my kayak is 17" tall due to rocker, 31"wide and 14' long or so. I'm considering building a box and covering the inside with sheetrock or 3/16" plywood. Then just add the hoist system to raise it and fabricate some sort of 2'X16' "door".

Well it only took me about 6 months but this was my final result.

After thinking about hoisting systems and complicated racks I decide to keep it simple. $5.68 each at home depot. I drilled them into studs and called it good. Three kayaks on the wall for $34.08. The hooks work great and the foam keeps them from slipping. I also threw up some cheap shelves to try and keep the kayaks, gear, and tackle in one easy to load area. So far so good!

These hooks are awesome. I should be able to integrate them into a rack design.

Since the wife was out of town this weekend I had some free time to spend in my shop. I took another look at my kayak storage and decided I needed to rethink my storage strategy.
Unfortunately I don't have the wall space or ceiling room to store my kayaks so this is what I came up with.
I bought some 1" PVC pipe, some elbows, a section of pipe insulation, 2 rolls of harbor freight electrical tape, and 4 cheap wheels from Home Depot and put this cart together. I used the pipe insulation and electrical tape to create a cushion for the kayaks. Before I had them sitting on a stationary stand and they were always in my way.
Now I can push the whole cart around my garage or even wheel the whole thing around to the paved side of the house if I need garage space. The whole thing cost me around 30 bucks. I found an old spray paint can and gave the whole thing a coat of paint. Works like a charm.

That's similar to what I'm planning, but I'll be using 2x4s and bigger wheels.  Gotta have room for 5 yaks and a cargo box.

I have one kayak hanging from the ceiling and the other sits on saw horses beneath it.

How far do those hooks stick out?  Far enough to hold an Outback?

Yeah. I will have to take another picture. There is now the same Tarpon 120, Revo 13, and an older outback on the hooks. I was thinking you could always extend them with some PVC if needed too.

Nice looking set up Paul!

This thread is reminding me of college, used to share a tiny appartment with three other housemates, I kept my POS 9 foot kayak strapped to the ceiling over my bed with 550 chord and my road bike on the wall, barely enough room for a TV left... My housemates thought I was crazy, I would say I was dedicated.  Sometimes there's not much of a difference.

Finally finished my Yak storage.  Fits 6 boats or 5 + cargo box.  On wheels so it's easy to get to the boats in either side.
