I noticed that also. I cant remember if it started out slow like this last year, and slowly added people during the year, or if there were more from the beginning. If the prizes are still good this year, we will have a better chance of winning something if there are fewer participants, but it may not seem as rewarding.

It's possible to start late in the year and do well. There's plenty of big points potential into the summer and fall months. In 2012 I didn't join until the middle of July and came out okay. It's a long time until the end of this year and it is only 10 fish that count. I hope it's just the lousy weather that's keeping folks from joining. I know that's what's keeping me off the water this year more than normal.

People could be waiting for daylight savings time to kick in.  It's been a factor in my case.  I'm sure with the weather warming up more people will sign on.

BTW, there are more people signed up than listed on the leader board ;)

I'd like to see AOTY increase the number of contestants.   Outside of this small community I don't see it discussed anywhere else.  If more people knew about AOTY I'm sure we would see more contestants.

Agreed, I use to hear about the AOTY a lot more in the fishing media a couple of years ago. Seem it went silent last year, and the competition got a lot tougher. Go figure. ???

For me, working mandatory 20-40+ hours of overtime every month makes it pointless to even attempt it.  The past two years I got great starts but fell way behind due to work, family crap (the non fun kind), and being a good dad/husband.  Oh well.

I leave for the east coast at the end of next month, probably wont be back, didn't make sense for me to play again.  And last year I fished my ass off, that was no joke.

I paid for AOTY on Feb. 6th but haven't shown up on the board yet. Maybe there's more coming? Hopefully, I'll start landing fish when I get added.

weather and work have kept me off the water for the most part.  getting a day off with good swell conditions is like winning the lottery this time of year.

I bet things start to pick up as soon as the weather gets more of us out fishing.

I would offer that I really liked having a "Recent Catches" area on the home page...it kept AOTY at the forefront and was an easy way to see who's caught recent fish. I really hope it's on the list of things to do otherwise what's out of sight is out of mind.

Agreed. "recent catches" was always the first thing i looked at when i checked nwka.  I think it would be cool to be able to comment on other peoples fish also.
