I'm not dead yet... species #9 submitted, and I have a couple of plans for species #10. I've got, what, like 13 days? No problem!

That koke got you in the top ten. Congrats.

Thanks! Never did get #10... I gave it a good try.

Congratulations to Snopro for taking the 2013 AOTY! I'd be in staggering awe if somebody posted a come from behind victory set of upgrades at this point. And to Merz for nipping at my heals....or did he pass me by in the last lap?

Posting 10 qualifying fish is an accomplishment in itself, but there are a lot of totals that make it obvious how competitive this event has become in a very short period. Keep pushing the boundaries everyone.

There aren't any pending catches at this point, but I'm waiting on the thumbs up from the rest of the AOTY committee to make the official announcement of winners.  Once that is finalized, I'm going to archive the results and reset the board for 2015.

Thanks Todd.  Haven't heard anything "official".   Someone might have hit a grand slam.  I guess we'll know after the 14 day grace period.

I stopped fishing when we opened the hill and thought you or Merz would pass me for sure.  I really didn't have any upgrades after the first week of November.  I hooked into a few brooders that would have bumped me up a bit but lost all of them.  All the Summers I caught in December were either to small to help, or wild.

I did take a picture of this wild ten pounder I released.  Great fish.  Tore me up.  Fantastic colors.

Often my favorite fish aren't worth any AOTY points.

They're still being discussed.. I don't believe there will be any major rule changes but there probably will be some format tweaks. I think the point scales will stay the same but I think you will see the mouth completely closed rule relaxed or eliminated.

It is highly likely the mouth rule will be gone.  Don't go manipulating your fish, stretching them on a medieval, rack, etc.   we won't look kindly on it.

We're still working out the details (cost, prizes, etc..) for 2015.  However, we'll be using the same species list and points per inch and as Lee mentioned we've dropped the closed mouth rule.

I'm going to try and add some features to make things interesting.  Here are some ideas....
1. A leaderboard based on "Number days of fishing entered"
2. A saltwater leaderboard
3. A freshwater leaderboard
4. Anadromous leaderboard
5. Smallest fish leaderboard (not sure how to work the points yet, but I'm thinking every fish you enter is worth 200 points minus its points per inch)
6. Leaderboard as usual but your points are divided by the number of days worth of fishing you entered.
7. Biggest day (leaderboard based on highest total points for a single day)

I'm open to suggestions and I'll role these out as I get them done.

The PayPal link will be up soon.  Until then fish all you want, we'll set your pay date to Jan 1st if you buy in within a week or so of the PayPal link getting put back up.

I like your idea bsteves, I'm curious how entering days spent fishing will work out.
Dividing saltwater/freshwater into two leader boards is pretty sweet.
I think these new ideas will get other people excited about AOTY 2015

Well you can always lie, but when you enter a catch you record the day you caught it.   I suppose it's really days catching and not all days fishing.  For example, if you go fishing and enter fish for that day, that's one day of fishing.  Enter fish 6 times (six different days) throughout the year and you've fished six times.   There were several people who posted fish more than 15 times in 2014.  The record was 25. Guess where they are on the final leader board?

On the flip side, there are people who posted 4 or more fish species from one day of fishing
