Polepole,

You emailed us and asked for possible logo design suggestions.  As I write this, it sounds lame and cliche but I'm picturing a simple kayak paddle and rod-with-reel crossed in the background and then a leaping salmon in the foreground.  Kinda like a skull and cross-bones.

Hey!  I told you it felt lame didn't I?  ;)
If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.

Not lame ... or maybe I'm not picturing it right.   ;)

I was thinking about a salmon too, but in the Native American art form (or First Nation as our Canadian brothers would say).  However, the Washington Fly Fishing guys already used that.

Although we could choose a different art form and add a paddle and a rod.

I was thinking of a compass rose, with a kayak used as the needle/pointer. (Pointed NW, of course.) Script surrounding-

                               North

                   West                Kayak

                              Anglers

pisco,
I like the idea of a kayak being in there somewhere.
Logos are tough!! Something all will know, instantly recognizable, not too "busy".
I think the compass rose falls into that area.
By the way, is the logo to be a sticker or just for the website?

The logo is for the website and any shwag we might offer at a later date.

I like the compass idea, although it's too bad West is to the left as it doesn't read as naturally  ... I keep reading it as the "North Kayak West Anglers".  Or maybe I'm just dyslexic?   :P

I too think a kayak should be somewhere in the logo.

No sweat,
Lot's of time to figure it all out. It does read a bit odd.
How about a fish paddling the yak!!

I think I am dyslexic because now I am reading it top to bottom and left to right and it is now coming out North West Kayak Anglers in my eyes.  I think there is probably something that can be done in an image to force the reader to see it correctly ...  you know, trick the mind a bit.

what if you had the compose rose, but instead of the rose part you had two paddles crossed. One going north and south and the other going east to west with a kayak in the center at a canter pointing to NW. And if you wanted to get really fancy you could have it all done IN a native american salmon or killer whale, as if it where done as part of the design of the salmon. Do you guys follow that, :-\ I think Im lost now.
Also there is also doing some what like norcalkayak, a little differnt with the Aurora borealis as the sky back ground. (Can you see that From the west? you can see some times from Spokane.
Also what if we move the Sonics to Spokane, oops wrong form, sorry. ::)

All right.  I sketched something out with a compass ross theme.  I moved NW to well, the NW quadrant.  Hey, it looks a bit like the Mariners.  No kayak in the picture yet, as it was getting pretty busy with what was there.  It is REALLY rough right now, but you get the picture.  Comments?  Once we mature a bit, I'll put a little more professionalism into it, better graphics and fonts, etc.

Drawing #2 now on the front page.  I wanted to see what something looks like up there instead of the text title.  Tom, you and your butt are still starring as well!!!

Who are the Mariners?   ::)

I may fiddle with the color scheme a little.  To tell you the truth, the compass rose is used in a lot of companies in the kayak industry.  Take a look at this logo from NW Kayaks.  The got the rose, a kayak, and a paddle in there.

I have a feeling will see a "progression" of the NWKA logo as creative bursts come to me.   ;)

Ohhh I like that, that is cool. 8) That is more like the naval compass head. Very nice. I can see that on a hat nicely.
I dropped a line to Chip Delvini at Cour d lan kayak (spelling) he has a tour company on the lake. Just to let him know about your site, and get more folks together on this side of the hill.

Just a thought.
