I'm definitely planning to troll between crab traps. Nate and I will be sailing the Tandem Island around six traps spread about 10 minutes apart. I'll bring both trolling gear and a spinning rod.

Outback and paddle are rented for monday.

Picked up a decent looking semi dry top and pfd today.  Still need waders.

I think this is going to come together for me.

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

All the Bi-Marts on this side of the Columbia have been sold out of rings all week and so has Wholesale Sports. I called the one in Portland on Saturday, as I was headed back to Vancouver from Molalla and the guy said someone had bought his last six the night before. Decided to swing by Fishermans Marine and that's when I found the ones discussed by Jammer as not so great. Hope your able to find some.

Since Nate has enough for our monday trip I'll hold off until I know what will be the best for crabbing.

Trying to decide if it makes any sense to get an annual Oregon non-resident license or just the crabbing license. Can someone confirm that Oregon licenses run until 12/31. Their website is great except for that minor detail. Washington licenses run till 3/31 and they print that prominently in their regs.

I'm doing the one day Shellfish for this trip and going to spring for the Non-resident license in January so I get the full year, rather than six weeks.

License is only good till the end of the calendar year (I'd wait till January Like CIT).  Shellfish license is the way to go if you ONLY plan to crab/clam, if you plan to fish you would also need to pick up a "One Day angling License" too.

+1 on what Pelagic said.
It looks like it is going to be raining on Monday, but so far the wind shouldn't be to bad.
Just to confirm the plan for with everyone.  We are going to meet in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer on Cornelius Pass road at 7:30, consolidate cars and head out from there.  Here is a map to the meetup.

Feel free to show up at 7:30 PM,  but I plan on being there in the morning.   While we are there we can load up on bait too, cheap chicken parts and turkey legs.

Nah, that's cool Nate. At 7:30 PM, I'm hoping to be back in dry clothes with some crabs in a cooler. I did drive over to Fisherman's Marine today and got my Shellfish permit. I was going to just crab, but went ahead and got a one day fishing permit too. Problem is, I've never fished the ocean and while I have a rod/reel/line that'll more than cover it, I don't have the tackle, lures or a clue what to even try for. Maybe I'll just bring a bunch of Trout/Steelhead type spinners and see what happens. Wide open to suggestions too.

I bought a shell fish for the rest of the year and a one day fishing license and it cost $35. For shell fish, it was $8 for a one day or $12 for the rest of the year.

Castirontrout, I didn't have any Salmon gear either.I asked ay Fishermen's and they showed me what to get.
1. Lures (I got two to try)
2. 25# leader (for sinker)
3. 40# leader for lure
4. Swivels
5. Beads (slide line for sinker)
6. Ball sinker 4 & 6 ounce
It was $28 for all this.

I have not fished for Steelhead, but this gear is much heavier than anything I ever used for trout.

See you Monday

I am going to bring a light rod for surf perch.  I am hoping to find some along the Jetty.  I need more AOTY points. I may also bring a salmon rod, but I kinda want to keep it simple.  I need points and the odds of me getting a perch are higher than a coho or larger king.
