When conditions are tough I always remember the quote on one of my favorite T shirts: To fish or not to fish, what a stupid question.

If the fish aren't biting, it is not a total loss.  The  guys new to sturgeon fishing will at least seen how to anchor and rig up.  Plus, it beats working.  And If you are on the east side, take Jammer's advice and launch from his launch.  It is way easier getting back to the car IMHO.

Copy dat, Craig. I'm launching from there and paddling up stream. If I see the Falls before I see you guys, I guess I went too far...lol

Guys just wanted to give you a heads up since I am on the river for work. In the last few days the Willy went from 4' to 9'and climbing, according to the river gauge out side of the station this afternoon. Their is also large amounts of debris making its way down stream, have seen enough to build a large house. Be careful out there on Black Fri.

Thanks fb23.  I've been watching the stage height climb too.  Good news is its supposed to peak on Thursday.  Hopefully the dino will be hungry again by Saturday, and the biggest floatsom will be well on its way to Astoria by then.  We'll see.

Cup half full:  Willamette is up five feet...that just means there is less of a hill to pull the yak up when you are done.   ;D

Cup another half full....oh wait, that would be a quarter, so now the cups at 3/4 full. Ohwell, was reading and don't know if its accurate since I'm a newbie to chasing Dino's, but they supposedly become more active in off color, rising waters (hoping its true now that I read it)

I am looking forward to tomorrow. I went out and bought a second crab float today and I broke down and bought a tiger stik combo at Dick's. I hope I get to thoroughly break it in tomorrow :)

Thanks PDX. Just be safe out there we don't want to have the fireboat show up and spoil all the fun. ;)

Guess what.  The Lake Oswego fire department pulled down the ramp and launched their fireboat today.  First time I've seen that.  Didn't spoil any fun though.

Today was one of those slow(ish) days that end up being great.  The "confused" current made holding in one place challenging.  And the fish seemed to take a while to find our bait...even then they would give it a taste and not always come back for the second hookset bite.  The action seemed to pick up later in the day and I ended up with eight fish.  My biggest was pushing mid-fifties.  Camera was broken but Craig took some shots I'm looking forward to seeing.  It was great seeing everyone out there today and meeting some new folks.
