Holy crap that was fun! I had to leave around noon but managed my first, second and third sturgeon ever. Many thanks to deepcolor and craig for the hints and advice. I can't wait to get back out there again!

I can't wait for Craig to post those pictures.

That fish I caught must have been like 8 feet!

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

What a great day and a great chance to meet so many of you out on the water! A lot of folks got their first sturgeon today which was great. I fished upstream for the entire morning with many bites but no fish to the kayak. I then came down near where the creek dumps in (where many folks were fishing) and had a lot of success. I ended up with 10 sturgeon including my biggest ever (thanks for coming off anchor to take some pictures deepcolor. I really appreciated it!) I also caught what might have been my second biggest ever (last fish of the day). By the end of the day the water was not a muddy (I might even go so far as to call it stained). They were still biting when I left. I caught my tenth fish on my last anchovy and called it a (long) day. Attached are pics of my three best fish for the day.

That was a ton of fun folks, we should do that again!

I knew I left too soon. :(

What a beautiful day!  I thought the fishing was going to be fast because I hooked this one pretty much right off the bat.  A smallish log hit my anchor spool and just stuck there.  I was trying to push it off with my paddle and it wasn't budging. I let off anchor and started reeling in my line and this dino happened to be stuck on the hook at the end of it. The fishing slowed down a bit until it got a little warmer.

Then, Sinker hooked into his first one after getting some sagely advice from Deep Color.

I believe Noah ended up getting towed around three different times.   This is the only one I got a picture of, though.

Here is my second one.  I thought I missed the strike and let the bait settle back down.  After a couple minutes I noticed my kayak had significantly shifted position and was out in much deeper water.  I figured I better reel in and check the bait.  After a few cranks of the reel I realized what caused me to drift out to the main channel.  It was mister sturgeon slowly pulling on the line.  :o

PDXfisher hooked into one just off the beach, sorry the picture is a little blurry.  I had my cheap camera today.  For some reason ( :dontknow:) my wife doesn't trust me with the good one anymore.  I wonder if it's because two of our cameras are on the bottom of the Willy within 150 yards of where we were fishing today?

And now to the big one.  Who caught it you may ask?  Well it was none other than sturgeon Sensei Deep Color.  But... he almost dropped it before I could get a good picture.

Jammer showed up a little later and he caught a couple while I was there but I didn't get any photos of them.  I am not sure how Joesnuffy and Castirontrout faired since I had to leave early.

I want to thank everyone for a fun morning.

Damn! I love the Willamette! We need to do that again soon!

CastIron gota sturgeon but I will let him post the pic.

I know that joesnuffy got one too.

By the way Noah, joesnuffy gave me your scent to give back to you. However the last sturgeon swatted that and my camera case overboard. Let me know what your favorite flavor is and I will grab a bottle for next time I see you.

Hell yeah!  Way to get it done!
I love all the fish pics especially Andrew's big boy.  Could've guessed he'd have the hot rod there.

It was.  That was a bad angle.  The fish's tail is pointing away from the camera so I think it looks a little shorter.  Is this one better?

Cool a camera case to go with one of my cameras down there.  :)

I am glad to hear Castirontrout and Joesnuffy got into them, as well.  I know joesnuffy had one on earlier that shook the hook out.
