Seeing how I missed a few sturgeon outings I think I need to head out and get my fix.  Craig and I are planing on hitting Rooster Rock on the Columbia Saturday morning at 7:30.   It is has a decent ramp and we have caught shakers pretty close to the launch.  While we have not seen any big fish like everyone getting on the Willamette there is a chance to take one home.

Last week JoeSnuffy paddled with no problems.

I'm tempted to sail down from Camas and join you.

Everybody isn't as BadA$$ as me though :P

Those peddle drives sure looked nice though.

I guess rooster rock isn't a very long trip.  The last trip was over 1 mile each way.

If what they are predicting for  the wind is true this spot is really nice with a paddle kayak.

Wish I could go but my daughter has a swim meet this weekend thus I will not be able to do any fishing. Have fun and catch some keepers!

Nate at this time I will be there. Do we just meet up at the boat launch inside the park to the left on the west side of the park. ?

Yep, just meet at the boat ramp in the park.  If anyone gets there late just head out the slough and you should be able to see us.

Nate.  I'm going to perform the "find the essence of Jade' ceremony tonight...except with a half gallon of old sangria instead of the magnum of merlot...and if I don't fall down and hit my head after I smell my waders, then I will join you guys too.

See you at 7:30 at the Rooster Rock boat ramp yo.

FYI, for sturgeon fisherman. The clinic last night was at Hogg's Hardcore Tackle in Hillsboro. He has pyramid sinkers up to 24oz. (24, 20, 16, 12, 10, etc). The price is 20 cents/oz - which is a really good price (best I have seen). (I bought 7.5lbs of sinkers last night :)

I have no affiliation with the store but thought this was good information to share.

Damn that is over 10 cent/oz cheaper than fisherman's.    If the wind forecast holds true, we should have a really nice day out there. hopefully we can get the fish to cooperate.

For some reason (I'll blame it on the voices), I thought Craig said he's headed to Chinook Landing, but maybe they're one in the same. ??? Having read this thread, I guess I'll head to Rooster Rock in the morning.

Definitely Rooster Rock.  It is a much more enjoyable paddle too and from the launch.  Of course, if we fish it in the summer, we may need to rethink the launch location. ;)
