Signed up today for AOTY and looking forward to hitting the water.

I have a couple of questions if someone can help ?

1. It looks like by the rules it's not how many fish you catch, but how big they are and to get 10 different species that counts?
2. There is only three places to add pictures, so if I catch a limit of Kokanee (18 at Lake Yale) I only enter the three biggest?
3. After that, would I only add a new catch if was bigger than what I have already added or do we keep track of all catches?
4. I assume high score is the winner? what is the average used for?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Whopper perch??  Looks like I need to make another trip to Florence, Dave.

You just need to enter the biggest one of each species.  You only need one good picture with the measurement visible per fish.  The other two spots for each entry are to really rub it in to everyone when you catch a monster.  Only one fish per species gets you points.  If at a later date you catch a bigger one of that species (aka "upgrade") you would enter that one, too.  The smaller will not go towards your total points. You do not need to enter every fish.

I figured the average was there to help you out to keep track of the competition.  Lets say you had 8 fish and were in first place with an average of 126 points (1008 points)and the second place guy has six fish with an average of 150 points (900 points).  You may want to start looking for upgrades for your smaller fish.

As for your mastery of the kokanee at Lake Yale, I believe you will have to let me know of the next time you go.  I am a very good student. ;D  Oh, and I always seem to find good beer in my kayak.

I've got a question in regards to the rule:

1. All fish entered must be caught by hook and line (i.e. hooked, fought, and landed) from a human power kayak (i.e. no sail or motors), without aid from anyone else and using methods deemed legal according to the body of water from which they are caught.

I'm new to the group, and I've read some comments about the Hobie Pro Angler, which I have one.  Does this disqualify me from entering in AOTY?  Do I have to get another toy?  I was planning on getting another yak to fish out of, but who knows when that will happen.

Thanks
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

No one on this forum is going to stop you from getting a new toy.  ;D  You'll be fine as far as fishing for AOTY from you PA as long as you don't have a motor hooked up to it or a sail.

I thought the PA was big and heavy enough to be an ice breaker. ;D

It may be heavy enough to break the ice, but I might not make it very far out before I get tired

Maybe this was answered for Kardinal_84, but what if Kenai_guy drilled an ice hole, dragged his kayak by hand from shore across the ice to the hole, sat in it, and fished.  Would fish so caught be eligible for AOTY?

I think someone tried that last year and points were denied. Bill Somebody, used to be the mayor of Twisp. Or was it that Noggin guy from up in the northeast corner?

Anyway i dont think it would fly.
