"Build it" does seem like the only real option. For now, the plan is that we need to replace the deck and when that happens we will also build a barn attached to it.
An Eichler style boat barn will be interesting and expensive.
Looks like there will be some OT in my future.
Until then, it looks like Im going to have the boats in the room that was to be my office.
That sexy surf ski will be challenging.

This is our ManCave. Still under construction. It's approximately 20x40, an RV storage. We also work on cars, in one of the pictures is my '73 Toyota Celica and pdw9mm's '85 Toyota Cressida Wagon with airbags. We put up some racks recently for extra storage. We keep our 7 kayaks and gear stored as well as work on them.We just picked up a trailer this week that we'll use to start hauling the kayaks and camping gear. We've got a bunch of ideas we need to finalize for mods on the trailer.

At first I was admiring the kayaks, then my eye caught the car in the background and I started remembering my first car being a 74 Celica ST ...    I don't think I have seen a 70's Celica on the road in years.   When you get my age,  the memories of your first car start ranking up there with the other "Firsts"    ;D

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

7 boats and 2 boards need to fit in one room.
I need some type of free standing rack system that fits aginst the wall to free up the space in the middle of the room for projects.
Right now Im leaning towards a product from Suspenz and ill need 3 of them.
Does anyone know of a better product out there that can do the job?

I use the Suspenz system so I can move the racks around if I need to.  There are probably more economical systems available but I like the flexibility with the Suspenz.

How much is it gonna cost for one of those racks to store 7 yaks n 2 boards? I will price up a design using our Bosch Aluminum Extrusion to see if its cheaper.

Im going with 3 of the 3 kayak storage systems and it looks like it will be close to $1,300.00
The plan is that they will transfer easily into the barn after its built, which could be a ways away.
I still have to research this product and look and see what else is out there.
Thanks for checking!

We have the very talented "Guitarzan" finishing up the interior colors on the new place and we are getting closer to moving the boats and gear into the new (temporary) lair.
I came very close to pulling the trigger on the Suspenz system and then stumbled upon Talic.
http://talic.com/cat22.php
The woody finish will be a bigger hit with the SLF since keeping all of these boats in the house "isn't ideal".
The ability to stack 4 instead of 3 along a wall is obviously a plus as well.

The next rub really stings.
I dont have the room to keep the slippery surf ski any longer.
I was able to test a boat that had caught my eye a few years back. I had never had access to this boat before here on the west coast. That changed. So the test turned into a purchase and unfortunately the ski has to go. It is just too long for my indoor storage situation anyway.
Im bummed but I gave it to a good home with a family of paddlers that will have it gliding across the water more than I would.

Any shared experience with the Talic system is appreciated.

I decided to go with the Talic rack system. It looks good, was easy to put together, and seems to be sturdy. Its is perfect for my need to preserve the walls, floors and ceiling by being free standing.
All of these traits and the ability to stack 4 boats instead of just 3 on one rack sealed the deal.
I was also pleasantly surprised/relieved that the system was a able to support a variety of craft. Right now I am keeping 8 in the rack beds and which ever boat Im working with on the gurney. As nice as it is to have the boards stored on the rack, Im afraid that they will need a new home since the Coosa may be in my future for creek fishing.

Oh yes, the paddle rack is a Talic product as well. It holds 18!

Nice kayak SHOP.

Would those allow for storing boats upside down?
