If we didn't have wives in tow we'd head down Saturday. Hate to drive back from Nehalem ro Camas in the morning and turn around...

What an awesome day.  First time I've finished a day of fishing and my arm hurt from reeling in fish.  Mostly from that 45 minute battle with who knows what, maybe a halibut.  Never saw it.  Anybody else hook into something big?  Attached photos include the launch, I think there were ten of us total, and my catch.  29" ling, 25" ling and 17" rockfish.  Thanks guys, looking forward to the next time!

Awesome job guys! I hope that in Noah I see in the picture since NWKA 2 needs more points.  I wish I could have made it out there. The Willamette sturgeon fishing was pretty good, though no substitute for salt.

Looks like you guys had a great day.  I kept on checking the surf cam to try to see you but it didn't work.

Craig, Noah is on NWKA 3 not NWKA 2.

Anybody else hook into something big?
Not even close to the fish that you had on. I was talking with Rawkfish later on and he was saying it might have been a Skate. Was it giving you any head shakes? Waterman was hoked up with a monster fish (pictures to follow) for what seemed like forever. I think I made 2-3 long drifts in the time he was fighting that fish.

I had a great time out there on the water as always. It was nice to meet some new faces and catch some fish. Big thanks to Rawkfish for talking me into attempting my first surf launch. My camera is still in my PFD but I'll get some photos up tonight. We launched from the beach around 8:00 and made it through the surf without incident. I fished with Langcod and Ling banger most of the morning. The fishing was good and I caught had 4-5 Lings in the 22-25" range between about 8:00 and 10:00. While fishing in 40-60 feet of water I located a few schools of blacks but all of them were in the 8-12 inches.  Ling Banger located a few more schools in 80-90 feet with larger fish and I put 6 of them on the game clip, biggest I think was 19-20 inches. We could have been on the beach by about 12:00 with limits but we decided to continue to fish. The bite seemed to slow midafternoon and around 2:00 we moved in closer to "the rock". In this area the bite picked back up and we boated a few more lings, underlings, and cabbies. While working an area about 25 yards off the rock, attempting to catch a greenling, I caught my biggest ling (27 inches) of the day in about 30 feet of water.

All told I think I caught somewhere between 8-12 keeper sized lings to 27", 4-5 underlings, 2 cabbies, and 12-15 blacks. I was taking pictures of each until the battery on my camera died :) The Salt was a blast as usual and I lucked out with my surf landing with nearly no waves to contend with. A few of the guys were not so lucky and ended up doing some swimming back into the beach. I have a feeling there will be some pretty good Go Pro videos coming  ;D
