Any particular brands to avoid? Or does it really matter? I'm talking about the lead sealed rechargeable variety.

Thanks!

Batteries plus sells a wide variety of sealed lead acid gel cell batteries. I just use a car battery charger to recharge mine.

If you're close to a cabela's, their product is cheaper.  If not, save yourself the gas and get one from Batteries Plus.

Actually I think Battery and Charger are sold seperately there for ~$20 each.

You can get a lithium setup from eBay for less than $40 with charger.

Batteries Plus charged the most of any place I checked.

If you're frugal, UPS batteries work great!  Just make sure that they're tested before you buy.
I picked up two 7AH batteries and a motorcycle trickle charger for less than Batteries Plus wanted for a 5AH battery.

When I pull one battery off the charger to fish with, I just plug in the next in line.  I always have a fresh one this way.  Just don't accidentally plug one battery into another......  Bad, Hot, Gooey, Flaming things happen......  someone told me......   ::)

Do you know if you can you use a normal trickle charger on those?

Thanks fellas!

I have a trickle charger already. Just figured I'd get 2 batteries, one primary and one spare. I'll check out their website.

Wow, Cabelas is 10$ cheaper. I use these on my homemade bike light and so when one goes bad I usually try to get one that day. Thus I usually just head over to Batteries plus. The Batteries plus Werker batteries are sold as UPS batteries. Do you know of a cheaper source (cheaper than Cabelas - which you could also use in a UPS)?

You can find recycled UPS batteries for about $5 a pop in the metro area.  Just like coastal sturgeon holes, that's all I have to say about that.   >:D

I just ordered one of these Li-Ion 9aH batteries.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/220857050716?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

It weighs just over a pound.  There is a thread in "Drillin' & Cuttin'":

My take is you need to be aware of batteries that are not "deep cycle rated"....motorcycle batteries does not fit this description....they will take considerably fewer discharge/charge cycles and then poop out.
I use a Fisher-Price 9.5 amp-hour, power wheels battery made for a child's electric car....these batteries are bullet proof...comes with a decent, automatic quick charger....about $54 at wally world.

The Werker and Cabella's Batteries are the same type, and a lot cheaper.
