Jammer, that was such a super video. You clearly had a lot of confidence to leave the FF, rods and cameras all topside during the landing. I would have liked to see the clip just after you boarded when you installed the Mirage Drive, couldn't tell if you paddled a bit before the install.

Looks like you had two fish on multiple times is that typical? Tell me more about that, do you wait after hooking the first one or is it just random?

Also noticed you didn't use a lip gripper or gloves. Why not?

Hoppa, I had most everything stowed below or tied down on the deck when we launched. Pretty much everything else was secured. I did loose my main rod and reel prior to returning, which was a total dip shit move......mmmmmm!!!
As far as launching, I just walk out the kayak until its deep enough to install the drive and rudder, wait for the break between sets and try and safely power out past the breaks. It doesn't always work so great though, so you need to be ready for anything.
We all had a few double hook ups, with even a couple triples. A couple of times I would let 1 Rockfiish swim back into the rocks and become 2 Rockfish within a matter of seconds. Sunday was by far the most productive Rockfishing I've ever seen yet. NonStop!!!
I forgot the lip grippers Sunday back in Portland. I still have a few small cuts on my fingers, but it's all good. I would highly recommend lip grippers though!!!! Be Safe!!!

Nope, just a sponge towel, and a Ram rod holder.  The rod holder was found the next day by a beach goer and given to Flyin Portagee and Rawkfish.  Flyin Portagee has it waiting for me at his place.  I leash, or bag everything.  I didn't expect the hatch to be so sloppy so that's how the rod holder got away. This WILL be remedied, so look for this change in the Drilling and Cutting section.

Thanks for shootin' and sharing the vids, guys. The beach launching and landings were very instructional. I'm sure all that hot fishing must have been more fun doing it than I could even imagine, after just watching you guys haul in fish after fish after fish, like that.

Insayn's  bravery in demonstrating what looked like classic "pearling" on the takeoff easily deserved several beers.
Glad to see he survived it well. I am thinking of ways to get the weight distribution more toward the stern for when I try to ride one in.

Jammer, that was a great vid!  It really made me miss hanging out between a bell and a rock

...and cold water, and dry suits, and 2 hour drives (each way)...

Okay, maybe not.

But it was still a great vid! ;D

Just watched the other video. Craig, that was even better! My family is wondering what is wrong with me howling and counting the rolls (12?)  I loved the flag in the sand!l  For that vid and its ensuing big belly laugh, you sir, are the only one qualified to see the secret fish dance.

Thanks again and don't forget to plant your paddle on the wave side.

Insayn, Nice video. I noticed you just use a jig solo. Do you ever do the 2 droppers on top of the jig? I liked how your flag survived the surf. Is you flag pole a ATV pole?

I had shrimp/squid flies on board, but was doing just fine with one jig at a time.   Although the lure of a 7 rock fish limit is there, I'm not a fan of cleaning a crap load of them, so catching doubles or triples at a time isn't a priority for me.  I kept the two rock fish I caught as well as the two larger lings.  I'm probably going to continue with this kind of shopping throughout the year, only to add the one cabezon too during open season.  If I can get my basic shopping done early, I'd like to switch gear and see if I can find some flounder or surf perch, or maybe even pull out my Crab hawks and target crab when legal out there.

The flag is indeed an ATV whip.

Craig, that was awesome!  If you promise to do that again, I will let you mount one of my GoPros to the front so we can see your face.

Nice work, Craig!  That was an awesome ride - all half a second of it!   ;D  I loved seeing your gear hanging in the water.   :D  That was one of the most epic huli's I've seen on video in a while.

I've got a couple of videos coming...

I gotta learn to go in more side to side, so I can see them sneakers coming from behind and possibly surf down the face of them rather than doing the lawn dart maneuver.  ;D

That's probably true if you would like to spend less time leak testing your immersion gear.  I don't think that would be nearly as entertaining for us though.  Think about what your audience wants, dude!  :D
