Is this a good deal? I think I may pull the trigger if it is.

Camo should not be a $300 upgrade, its simply an option and should not change the price.  Also many of his listed upgrades sound like the standard rigging for a T-13 angler while others are a bit high on the price point without giving details as to what they are (e.g. which fish finder worth $350).

Retail from REI is about 950.

Like Brian said, it depends on the which fish finder it is, if it's an older clearance model then probably not. Same thing with the paddle. I'd say it's an okay deal at best. But maybe the guy would be willing to take 800 for the package? Seems a little shady though.

So, this is the larger story. He worked at the plant as the lead graveyard builder before they moved the plant to Maine. Hummingbird fish finder... he said he would take 900.

He says he bought it when he worked there. I told him I needed more info before I drive 4 hours. Man, I'd rather buy something from someone here... At least I'd have some measure of confidence that I wasn't getting taken or receiving stolen property.

So he'd worked at the OK plant in B'ham until it was closed?  That's plausible.  I work with a guy that interned there when he was going to WWU.

There will be others ones coming available. Just got to wait for the right one:) It can be pretty hard!

Since he knows I'm interested he has looked up some more details... He doesn't want to unwrap it though.  If I'm gonna buy he is gonna have to before I give him money so I can confirm,... But comfort seat, aqua bound glass paddle and hummingbird 385 all installed, just needs a battery.

You might ask him for the serial number on the boat and ask the local PD to run it.

The FF is probably worth $250-300 (new they're $350-400).  Not sure on the paddle, but I would pencil it in at about $50.  That seat, I think, is standard on the T13 so doesn't really add anything to the value equation.  So backing it all out, that's a $500-600 price for the boat.  A decent price, but not a screaming deal.  I don't know that I'd drive 3-4 hours each way for that deal.  If I had a spare $900 I would probably go get it as it's only a 1/2 hour drive for me.  For a 3-4 hour drive to be worth my while that package would either need a few more goodies, or come down to $800 or less.

Considering an employee got to take it home on the cheap it may have some blems. Usually they don't affect performance or function, but if you go check it out, do it somewhere where you can give it a good once over so you can spot any irregularities. Another good reason to buy from a local reputable shop.

I'd insist on cracking the seal.  $900 is a really good price if everything is as advertised.  Gotta wonder how all that stuff got installed if it's still wrapped in factory plastic though....

When the Trident's first came out, OK offered an angler package that included a FF.  It's not outside the realm of possibility that this is one of those models.

He is balking at letting me cut off the plastic unless I buy it. It seems important to him that it is a factory sealed kayak. Does the factory seal have any significance?  It is NOT a second. He won it as an employee.
