But, at least it's short.  And I catch one at the end.  Spoiler!

(watch it bigger to see the tarpon leaps)

I wrote up a report in the vid description.  I am very excitable when it comes to fishing :P

Standing Hookset against a tarpon says a hell of a lot about the stability of that boat.  That was still fun to watch.

Rory-------That rocked dude.....way to get em.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Nice vid!! They are sooooo fun to catch!! Pros at chaffing through leaders, and can be a bear to hook too. I've had the most success with circle hooks so the leader wasn't rubbing against that tough jaw.

That was beautiful!  Don't fret the losses.  They're always much more memorable than actually landing the beasts.

You won't catch this guy (me) using circle hooks, ever again! :P :P

Did you used to live in Florida, Rav?

Yeah, Cocoa Beach is my home. My parents still live in Melbourne, but I don't spend near as much time there as you get to these days. More or less living vicariously through your vids. Keep'em coming!!

Curious why no circle hooks though? My snook and tarpon to hand ratio likely went up 50% once I figured out how to use them.

Yeah, I went with circle hooks last season and was 1 for 20 with tarpon.  Just can't get into 'em.  Though it's possible I didn't finish out the learning curve.  The one day (of the vid) I used J hooks I stuck 5 tarpon solidly (a 6th just ripped the bait off, missing the hook entirely).  Just can't beat the feeling of driving the hook home! :D

One of my friends down there who fishes tarpon thrice weekly in the season is a dedicated J hook user.  But another friend only uses circle hooks.  So, might just be personal preference.

Fair enough. They worked great for me. I lost a ton on chaffed leaders before I made the switch, but a lot of my buddies were landing them regularly on J hooks too. Nothing beats watching them destroy top water poppers though! Big chug bugs are by are my favorite way to catch those prehistoric plug snatchers!

Yeah ya do!! Make sure you've got the head mounted camera running. When they blow it up it'll almost scare you how fast and violent it all goes down! The rolling takes get pretty exciting too!!

I freaking love this video. So much to comment on. I love how easy it looks to stand in the PA. I've been thinking about demoing one just for fun sometime this summer but I'm afraid I'll come home with another kayak.
