With all the Chinook heading up the Columbia I thought y'all would be all over this but I haven't seen a post yet.  Does anybody have plans to be hitting this fishery the last weekend of the month?  Would love to join you if you do or at least get some tips.  I plan to fish Fri the 31st.

It looks like one can often find Salmon of Long Beach too, any thoughts on that?

Hey Pelagic, do you guide this stretch of river?

Fishing has been ok.  Chovies are outproducing herring.  Hopefully the spinner bite turns on as its been slow.  Good luck when you go, its been busy so stay safe.

There has been some great Ocean conditions and I think a lot of us have been going that direction. I haven't fished B10 before but I might be heading that directed that Saturday. I will keep you posted.

FYI PB buddy of mine limited out the boat (3 anglers) and was back to the trailer by 10:00 AM today.

My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

Nice! I'd love to try Astoria. I'm not willing to get out by B10 but around the WA shore near the bridge seems reasonable in a yak. I'd be up for the 31st and 1st timeframe.

Is this a trolling situation or will back bouncing wobblers work here at this point?

Wobblers higher on the river, trolling at B10.

Thanks, Noah and Ron, so would you use a down rigger, jet diver or dropper rig? Kwikfish or bait? Chovies rather than Herring or does it vary from day to day?

I used a dropper with a flasher and a cut plug herring last year. Sounds like I may need to pick up some chovies though.  I always bought the bait at the bait shop located at the Skippinon River boat launch.  It seemed fresher and their lead prices seemed reasonable as well.

Ohbryant, I may be able to get out there, too.

Nothing like the Astoria tidewater kayak workout to burn a few calories.

Thanks all, minor complication.  Does anybody have an extra boat?  I thought we were bringing the Truck & racks but wife says it's the wee little car we need to take, may bring the truck anyhow though.  Looks like about 100+$ we'll save in the metro vs the f150.  Spose I could rent one maybe.

If I go out you're welcome to join my in the Tandem Island if sailing doesn't offend you.

I've got extra boats. Since my wife isn't letting me fish this weekend I should get a pass for Saturday. I've got a tarpon 120 and probably an older outback you could use. Extra gear too if needed. Sending you a pm.

What day do you want to go I read the original post now  :BangHead:.  I am owed a lot of vacation time and I have three fishing yaks.  Two pedal (Adventure and Outback) and one wooden paddle.  However, the seat for the wooden one is being loaned to a kid that is putting my cedar strip SINK to good use until he can afford to buy his own yak.  Therefore, you may be forced to pedal if you use mine.  I know you paddlers are a purists  ;), but the offer stands if I can get the day off.

F*$@-it, I am taking the day off.  Lets check the tides and figure something out.  Who else is in?

The fish are spread out throughout the estuary  with no area producing much better than the other with the exception of above tongue point on the outgoing which isn't a good option for the kayaks.  I would suggest buying herring and if you want to to use anchovies jig for them out on the water.  I get my days supply in about 10 minutes.  The spinner bite has been slow and bait has produced the best results.  I have been having good luck with cop car spoons 4 and 5 inch sizes (a good option if you don't want to use bait).  Have to work for a couple days but will be heading back down to fish Fri through Mon next week.

Right on!  Well, I'm at your mercy, with no boat and no truck to haul it I will have to bum a ride and a yak but will gladly spring for the gas and bait or lunch or whatever so as to get to the water.  Would much prefer to have a boat and like the idea of peddaling although I have 0 experience. We changed our plans just a bit and Sat is the day for me now, we will be heading down Fri.  So Craig or Noah or whoever has the spare boat and the means to get us there, I'd love to join you guys, I don't know much about this type of fishing, and probably don't have the right gear but will try to get some together.

Thanks again!
