I just noticed that Fungunnin racked up 1031.875 AOTY points during a five day trip to Foggy Bay. This has to be some sort of record for most points in fewest days. Congrats FG on your awesome adventure!

Must be Alaska. We can't keep Yellow-Eye Rockfish in WA or OR, and Halibut season is long since closed.

wow nice fish ,Foggy bay trip, ??? Was that the Paid trip to Alaska where the yaks are on a boat/plane to the fishing grounds and then ya fish? sounds a bit unfair aoty wise, to fly spend  lot$$ of money to get to fishing grounds not accessible to the Normal yaker. But  I don't know I don't have the kind of cash or time to do it,Sure looked like fun..must be nice.

I'm new to this. So hitching a ride to a remote fishing location along the Alaskan coastline on a ferry or boat, then kayak fishing from there is not considered a violation of mother-shipping (rule 1)?

What is mother-shipping? Fishing from the ferry or boat when your kayak is aboard?

It's unfair for him to work a shit ton of overtime and earn money and spend that money to take a fishing trip?  Seriously?

It's called the American Dream:  Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness.  You sound bitter that he was able to earn some extra dough and spend it how it feels like spending it.

If you take a boat to a place, and stay there overnight, it's a water taxi, not a mothership.

Seems like "Mothership" would be LIVING/Sleeping on, and launching kayaks from, the boat.

Subtle difference, but there is a difference.  For this trip, the  use of a boat was for transportation to a piece of land on which they camped for 5 days.  After the boat drops them off, it leaves.  So it is in no way involved in the actual fishing experience.

Thanks for the clarification.  So as long as one touches land first then goes fishing, it's not considered mother-shipping. ;D

It was an unbelievable trip! I got a bit of luck but a ton of prep paid off. The day I caught the halibut I paddled over 18 miles so it was no cake walk.
The kicker is that the halibut wasn't my biggest of the trip. Might not even been my second biggest.
A full write up will come when I get a moment and a few pics from other people.
