Well to each is own.

I was thinking more like the kind of girls you meet at church ;)

You know, sweet, wholesome,  like to fish, but only every once in a while.

You're looking for AKFishergirl qualities.

For some reason, it's a rare breed of woman who can tolerate us en masse. Personally know of 4 that joined then left becuase they felt they weren't being given equality they felt they deserved. Those that are still with us, rare gems indeed.

Did they leave because they weren't getting 'equality' or was it really because they weren't being catered to?

Another thing to think about with that, is that online forums aren't really a girl's thing.  Marie has an account, but rarely uses it.  It's not because she feels pushed away or anything like that, it's just not her 'thing'.  Thankfully, jumping in the plastic boat is.

yeh, you got a home run there with Marie, Lee. I really truly wish you both the happiest days of your lives.

Kind of sorry i brought this up. The ones i know who left, all told me they just didnt feel like they were really members. That and they felt they got iggied or shouted down in fora ... You might be right, Lee, about attention/not being catered to.

Well this old gal likes the forum. I've learned alot, and enjoy the barbs.I don't contribute much,  and really wish I were closer to you old salts so I could join in more. I love to fish and hunt( just got a three point). I'm from Klamath falls and is about time to hang up the Hobie, but I'm planning on staying at the coast about half the winter and will probably take the Hobie with me.  Loretta

I nominate Noah for "Encourager in Chief". He should have an official title.

Deer or elk?  Either way, congrats!  I've got a couple antlerless tags this year (one each deer and elk) and I'm hoping to help a buddy get his first elk.  If I get far enough in my studying this weekend I'll hopefully be able to get out to fill that doe tag next weekend.

Please do, and post up reports if you get some ocean windows!

Anyone have suggestions of great places to camp reasonably cheap? Also kayak fish for a newbie to salt. I plan on storing my trailer and hobie in North Bend  and I can head either North or South  when I go over. I will probably stick to lakes or slow bays or rivers. Thanks

For salt, Depoe bay is a good starting spot.  Post up when you see the weather is good enough to go, and get some company. Don't go alone  :-)

Holy smokes! I've got QUALITIES?
Seriously, don't change a thing guys. We're kayak fishers on this forum. Some men, some women, all of us dreaming the same big fish dreams. That's equality. Rory catches bigger halibut than me because he's a better fisherman. That's skill. Fish don't discriminate. There might not be lots of women who fish this way yet, but the equality doesn't come from numbers. It comes from a spirit, a willingness to learn, willingness to share successes and failures and have fun.

  Yes you do have qualities.
Eloquence is also on your list.....well said.

She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

haha, thanks AKF, but I consider myself way more lucky than skillful!  Any skill I may exhibit is copied from better anglers than me (many of them on this board)!

and don't sell your self short.  you slay :)

I have learned a lot from people on this forum over the past few years that I have been a member. I enjoy new challenges and that along with the ability to laugh at myself (of which I have had plenty of opportunity over the course of the summer) made for a great time out on the yak.
 So, thanks.
I will try and add info regarding Vancouver Island fishing spots as I discover them  to help any NWKA members who wander north of the border. (or south for AKfishergal.)
My fall challenge is to try river fishing from the yak--more laughs coming up!
