I'm bored and I apologize for the lame post...but I have two items in mind that I'd like for my Outback. A new fish finder, I found a nice hummingbird that does what I want. Or a new GoPro Hero 3.
They are both the same price and I plan on having both eventually.
What would you buy first? I realize there isn't a right or wrong choice.
What would you do?

Does your current FF work?  If so, and this just a small upgrade, I'd go with the camera.  If you have no (functional) FF, or this new one you're looking at is a massive upgrade then I'd go with the FF.

The only FF I have is this magical swim bait that I discovered. So I don't have any electronics yet. Just my intuition and a little bit of luck...but not too much luck.

Where and what do you fish for the most?  What other activities do you participate in that you would be using the gopro for?

If it was me, then, I'd go for the FF.  Note, I don't use mine so much to actually find fish, as to find the structure that usually means there are fish.  Be nice, too, to know where mid-water column fish are at, if I can ever succeed in going over any.

I fish lakes, rivers and the ocean. Pretty much anything and everything. Especially since I'm in the aoty this year. I'll be using the go pro mostly for fishing...unless I get creative and strap the thing to the cats or the baby haha.

A fish finder will help put food on your table.. a camera, although fun, only feeds your ego

Are you getting a FF/GPS combo? The benefit of having the GPS far out weighs the ability to make cool videos. Would you rather have a GPS that could potentially save your life or a video of your final minutes?  :P Seem like an easy choice to me. Are you also fishing the salt by yourself?

Is the GO PRO just for taking photo's for AOTY?
If so I would pickup a cheaper waterproof camera like the Nikon S30. it online at Walmart  for $80. I saw them in store for $60. They are discontinued and being replace with the S31.

If you want to go in the salt, you really need a FF with GPS for the fog that rolls in when you arent expecting it.

Easy choice! GO PRO! No one is going to invite you to the Hobie Fishing World Series unless you have some sick vids with killer sound track .... bro

Kayak fishing is all about letting others know you are kinda a big deal.

This is northwest kayak anglers, not northwest kayak posers.  Get the Fish Finder first!   >:D
