I'm getting so stoked for this! I have already spent way too much money on jigs for this event. It's all I can think about. I keep having this irrational fear though...the fear of the skunk. Has anyone ever gotten skunked at an ORC?
I feel like I am the guy that could totally do that. That's my luck haha.

I only caught 3 legal keepers last year (all lings, I let the very first one go).  Luckilly one of them was good enough for 5th place.  With close to 100 people out there I would expect a few to get skunked, but I think most people got at least some rockfish.  Some may have also caught legal lings/cabs or smaller fish like rockfish and greenling but tossed them back hoping for something would be a contender and wound up coming back with nothing as a result of never getting that contender.

Winning fish the last 2 years was over 19lbs.  10th place was a little under 9lbs in 2011 and nearly 10lbs last year.  So anything under 9lbs is probably not worth keeping until it's getting close to the time to head in and you're more concerned at that point with having fillets to take home or donate to the taco feed than winning.

Limits are 2 lings and 1 cabezon.  Total limit of 7 "rockfish" which includes cabezon and greenling (but not lings).

My hope is to load up on meat on Thursday and Friday, and then hold out for the big fish on Saturday and then not feel too bad if I threw them all back because none were contenders.

Sonny, yes, absolutely. I've got a Tarpon 120 I can bring down for you. Let me know if you'd like to use it. I will probably be down there with boats Thursday through Saturday.
