If you can not get pyramid weights, another option is to hammer four or five nails into a standard shaped sinker.  When the current has been seriously scooting along I have found that this is the only way to get purchase while plunking.

Mark / Nate

Thanks guys!

I have a Trevala MH 6'6" rod and a Daiwa Lexa 300 with 50lb PowerPro. Will this be good enough? I also have a 25-40lb Gloomis 6'6" Boat rod and a Okuma Coldwater CW 153DLX reel with 50lb PowerPro.

Are you guys coming up for the Salmon SlayRide Derby? We can talk then.

Anybody have a house I could park my camper in front of for a night or two?  I'd really like to come over for this if there is going to be a bunch of you out there.

There's a good spot on my street also.  I'm in Tigard and about 10-15 min from GR park.

would anybody be up for some fishing on Sunday before I head back to Eastern Oregon?

I'd like to do some Bass or Walleye fishing if it's any good.

Now for the news you have all been waiting for.  Next Adventure will be hosting a fundraiser for HOW on Saturday October 19th.  We are resurrecting Next Adventures first fishing tourney to bring you  "Willy Dino II, The Last Dino Hunt*."  Once the tourney page is up and running I will start a thread with more information and a link to sign up but for now I can promise it will be a day filled with burgers, beer, and big trophies.

Sweet! That's going on the calendar, no idea if I can fish it yet or not. Ling if you end up coming up here let me know.
I will most likely be present for this opener. I have the time off....it's just a matter of funds now.
Chris, let me know if you are going to make this, I can probably meet up with you. I't would be cool to buddy up with a familar face up there.

Pending weather/conditions I'd be up for hitting up some bass early on Sunday, home in time to watch football. I'm 2 minutes from a launch that's my "home water", but I haven't fished there in the fall much (yet). Keep in touch.

I'm pretty sure I'll be back from the "slope" on the 11th of October. Just in time for this Dino Tourney.

I have carved an attempt at a sturgeon I'll gladly donate for a prize. Need to do a little finish work on it 1st.

Lori has never caught a sturgeon and it is high on her "bucket list". Bring it on.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

That's the best news I've heard all day. Glad things are on the upswing!
