Grande Ronde float trip?

Sitting here watching this unfold, a wild thought comes up regarding the watercraft involved.

How would a PA 12 or 14, with an oar package instead of the drive unit, and having the drive well plugged, fair on a trip like this? You know, use it as a surrogate drift boat....

Would you oar it with the nose pointing upstream?  can you sit backwards in a PA? 

Just curious, has there been a date nailed down yet?  I've made sure the first two weekend of April are cleared just in case.

Was thinking that you would use a forward facing rowing set so you could sit like it is designed to be used. We've actually had a similar discussion here back around '08/'09.

I bet you could make the trip in a single day right now if you wanted.  Over 7k cfs at Troy. A few days ago it was pushing over 9k cfs.

This is a picture of the bridge at Troy.Things are a little flooded to say the least.

They hit over 20k cfs the other day.  It should be closer to 4K this time of year. 

Damn, that's a lot of water.  How long does it usually take to settle down?

It won't be for a while.  I've all but written off any steelhead fishing this year on that river.

We could get lucky though.
