Cleaning out my dad's fishing supplies. I have three complete Cannon Downriggers. Two, the ones on the right, are Sport Trolls. The one on the left is an Easy Troll.  All come with base plates, One four pound ball, clips and pictured hardware. The base plate for the one in the middle is an adjustable swivel plate.

I thought I would post them here first. In a couple of days I will post them on Craigslist for $100 each.

I do have two 8#weights and a stainless steel side mount for sale as well.

Send a PM if interested

Dang!  Bad timing!  I just ordered a Cannon Lake Troll two days ago, to mount on my Revolution!

I already have a Scotty Laketroller on my 13' Trident (see http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=11486.0  )  and a Scotty Depthmaster on my 13' Revolution (see http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=11954.0 ) .  But I decided to see how a Cannon Lake Troll will work on my Revolution.  A major advantage of the Cannon manual downriggers for use on a kayak is that it's really easy to shorten their booms.  Just take out the screw which holds the boom in the downrigger, saw off most of the base of the boom, and stick the boom back in the downrigger.  It won't be necessary to make any modifications to the pulley to keep the cable feeding into the center of the cable reel, as you do when shortening the boom on Scotty downriggers.  I'm going to mount the Cannon Lake Troll next to my right thigh, on top of the water bottle holder, pointing almost straight forward. I'll angle the downrigger just enough to the right so the shortened boom drops the cable an inch or so from the right side of the kayak.  The crank will be on the outside (right) side of the downrigger, and it'll be real easy to crank the ball up and down without changing position in my seat.

The dowriggers which Wobbler is selling are a bit bigger than the Lake Troll which I have ordered, but they'd work fine on a Mirage Drive kayak.  To use one on a paddle kayak, you'd need to find a place to mount it where it wouldn't interfere with paddling, and you can operate it without too much gymnastics or changing position.  Behind the left side of your seat could work well; it wouldn't be too awkward to reach back to operate the crank.  You could mount it so the boom angles downward and positions the pulley next to the gunwale, so you wouldn't bang your arm on the boom at the end of each paddle stroke.

Those cannons work great. My brother used to have them before he went electric .

We're right now looking at the options for both of our Revos. Your already set up for your Revo13....the work's done.  What sparked your interest in the Cannon?

Several things.  1. Shortening the boom on my Scotty Depthmaster downrigger was pretty complicated, because I needed to raise the pulley so the cable would feed into the center of the cable reel.  On the other hand, it only took me about ten minutes to shorten the boom on my Cannon Lake-Troll, which may make it a better choice for mounting on a kayak, particularly for people who aren't into complicated do-it-yourself projects.  2. I was curious to see if it would be easier to operate the crank of a vertical-reel manual downrigger like the Cannon downriggers than to operate the crank of a horizontal-reel downrigger like the Scotty downriggers, when the downriggers are mounted next to my right thigh.  3.  The brake on my Depthmaster is kind of an all-or-nothing thing, and I need to control the speed at which the ball drops by putting my thumb on the cable reel.  I'm curious to see if the clutch on the Cannon Lake-Troll provides better control over the speed at which the ball drops.  4.  When I mounted my Scotty Depthmaster on my 13' Revolution, I made a round plug which goes into the water bottle holder to stabilize the mount.  This mount is very effective, but a round plug is heavy and pretty difficult to make.  I realized that a plug made of a 1" thick tapered slab of plastic which sits in the water bottle holder at right angles to the gunwale would be just as effective, a lot easier to make, and a lot lighter, and I wanted to try making such a mount for the Cannon Lake-Troll.

I just received the Cannon Lake-Troll a couple of days ago, and have started work on the mount for it.  I should be able to bang out a mount pretty quickly; most projects go a lot faster the second time you do them.  I'll probably post a description of the mount after I complete it.

The vertical reel looks more natural...the easy-troll has an appealing 1.5:1 wind speed. Never having used one I'm unsure how much that would help. I would like to see your mount setup when done

Thanks in advance  ;D

Sorry gentlemen. I  down in Arizona enjoying the sun. The weights are $20 obo. The easytroll has an adjustable clutch which is controlled by the number of rotations of the handle. I have no problems lowering the weight at any speed desired.
At this point I have two left.

I am located in Portland.

I have a Scotty horizontal wind.  I forgot it one day and Wobbler let me borrow one of these. I found the vertical wind to be easier. These are far superior to the Scottys in the same price range IMHO. I now own one.  I love the breaking mechanism.  I just need to shorten the arm a bit, but I should probably pay Wobbler first before I start hacking.  ;D
