  Agreed.............

It couldn't be too hard for Next Adventure to put a registration count still available on the same page where you purchase.  Have it automatically count down as participants purchase a seat.

Hopefully they will automatically change their sign from "In Stock" to "Out of Stock" when the 120 has been reached.  Otherwise there will could be a rash of refunding going on after the 120th has paid up.

As for confirmation, I still didn't get one.  Checked all my e-mail folders and the only thing I found (prior to paying) was my registering as a member with Next Adventure.  My PayPal account shows that the transaction was completed, so that is what I will go with.

This is what I used as verification.

I'm in! Man, that launch will certainly be a zoo if we have 120 participants!

I'm going to sleep on my kayak, and be ready to launch at O'Dark:30.

So, I was looking back through this thread...

I guess I understand the idea of NOT posting the names of registered entrants on a public site...privacy of info and all that jazz...
But if you want privacy, it IS a public site after all...
But, not to post a listing of who's in just to make others jumpy and register faster is silly in my opinion.

If we can't get a contestant listing, wouldn't it at least be possible to get a contestant count?

I think everyone here at least wants to know how many are in (if we can't get a roster)...

I always thought is weird to post up registrants names on a public site.  Perhaps just post up the total numbers registered?  And at least make sure confirmation emails are sent/received.

I agree.  If you want to know if your buddies entered, pm them.  Also, it is a lot of work putting this together and that is just another task that would take away from us finding more captain's bag goodies.
Let's not make any more work for the volunteers putting ORC together. It's a tremendous amount of work already if they don't have time to add a list respect that and move on.

What Noah said.

As a volunteer organizer, I still have a job which requires me to average 50 hours per week over the work year.  Then, I have a family and I like to fish in my limited spare time. I don't have time to constantly reach out to Next Adventure and update a list.  I am not trying to be a dick, but you are either in or out what does it matter?  Or, someone can start a thread and list their name.  The next person can "quote" that first person's name and add theirs, etc...

One problem we have, is when you purchase your entry fee, Next Adventure is provided your true name for billing purposes.  I do not feel comfortable listing people's true names and I sure as hell couldn't match more than 20-30 of you wonderful people with your NWKA avatar.

I do not work for Next Adventure, and as a private business trying to make money, I would not expect them to expend resources to keep track for us.  They are not making money on this since the entree fees go to expenses we the organizers incur, and charity.  They have already donated the first prize, a new Hobie kayak and we are working with them to help provide logistics to get people to and from the launch since Depoe is a small harbor.

As for it being a public site, yes NWKA is, but I am assuming "Sharkbait! HooHaHa" is not your real name.  I do not know everyone on this sight and I assume, only the people I routinely fish with actually know my last name or where I live, and some people want to keep it that way.  I notice there are a lot of forum members that do not even list a location for their avatar, so I assume they like their privacy, as well. There are a lot of strange people out there in internet land and some people try to avoid them as best as they can.

Maybe one of the guys affiliated with Next can get a count, but I can't speak for them.
