Looks like only 5  people so far it's a real big bay we can easily get twice that many paddlers in. Any other interest? There are fish and crabs out here as well as some fun!

Sounds like a really fun event and a great location.  Unfortunately, due to the date, I can't attend this one...but maybe another one will show up for the fall ??!  Have fun fishing!

I wish I had somebody to carpool with from here :(  I'd love to make it but don't think I can.

Good luck everybody.

The barview campground is rather big, but not sure what would be available.  Should have plenty of spots if it rains due to cancelations.

Just a head's up on Barview. I love that place, and it's beautiful. But I've stayed there about 5 times and every single time I've had massive noise problems from neighboring campsites - parties, loud music, fights, shouting, hard drugs, drunk teens staggering around, etc. - into the wee hours of the morning. One time it was so bad I bothered the camp host twice in one night. He went and talked to the camp both times with zero change. I was pissed off at this point (probably 2:30am) and so I called the sheriff. They drove through about 20 minutes later and still did nothing (I should note this was one of the time when there was a bunch of drunk teens in the campsite). Another trip I actually left after I had drunk/high people walking by my tent yelling as late/early as 5am and urinating in my campsite while yelling to their friend to "go get the cocaine!". When I complained (while leaving) the next morning, all I got was "all you can do is call the Sheriff..." to which I replied, "Yep, I tried that last time."

I'm not the biggest square in the world; this stuff was way over the top. And apparently the camp host and the sheriff don't care as long it's the good ol' boys throwing beer bottles and shouting until dawn. I get the sense that it's mostly semi-locals causing the problem as the sheriff seemed to know the guys the time I called them. I'm never going there for an overnight with the kids again unless I have a motorhome/trailer.

Keep it classy, Tillamook County!

Would it be out of the question to move this to pacific city?

If there's enough interest and some one can help a newbie get out to sea , what extra equipment needed, I'm lacking a radio , dry suit , ff, gps / compass , experience .

Wouldn't moving out of Tillamook Bay sorta' defeat the idea of a "Tillamook Bay Tournament" ????

Another tourney out of PC could happen as well couldn't it. Maybe a "Pacific City Classic" ?
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

That's the same thing TLW said , and the two buisness that are going to help out with a prize might not like us moving it, but I would LOVE  to go out at PC but as I said I need some things first like more experience  ;D

Barview is not the only place to camp near Tillamook Bay, besides, I always just make the drive from the Valley.  It's only an hour to get there from the SW side.

Just to be clear: I wasn't discouraging people from camping for this event, I was just discouraging people from camping there.

That's what ya get for a state park , you think that's bad try staying at spruce run the height of redneck drunk season , and by the way I'm a gun toting red neck , just not an azz or a drunk.

Barview isn't a State Park, it's a County Park.

I've been there a dozen or more times myself, but in the wetter months.  Not crowded and no parties.

A trick I learned years ago camping on big weekends at the crowded Sand Lake black top area is to fire up a generator, (or plug in if you have hookups) and aim several 500 Watt shop lights at the parties.  They WILL eventually get tired of the bright light and either shut down their party, or bargain with you to turn them off.

Noise pollution is one thing, but light pollution is another to a stoned or drunk with dilated eyeballs.   ;D
