Cosmo, thanks for putting together and sharing the video. Looks like a fun day out there. It would have been fun to see ya'll out there but it wasn't in the cards this time.

Question: The retractable leash you can see starting at about 3:30 in the video - is that a dog-leash type solution? If so, I've been curious how those hold up in the saltwater. Have you had any issues?
I have been using a small one for my paddle for about two months no issues yet but for under $10 if it had to be replaced every year it wouldn't be a big issue. I do always rinse everything ir soak it in fresh water and dry before putting it away.

Yeah I hear you. Some stuff rusts the first time out, though (like cheap stringers, for example) and that's what I was curious about. I wash my gear pretty religiously and I still have rust issues with some stuff. I think it's me. :)

Yes, it is a super fancy $10 dog leash.  I've been using it for years, with no issues.  I don't think there is actually any metal in it, but I dunk it in Salt Away along with my other gear, and then shoot some silicone lube in there.  No issues.

The only thing I need to do is find a better way than a carabineer to clip it to my kayak so it doesn't flop around so much.

Sweet, thanks for the info!
