Trying to complete a "how to" article. Where did you get your kayak and general impressions.

I got mine ordered through Ak raft and kayak. My recollection was it was 100 more in shipping than other options but they honored the warranty so I went with then.

Others?

I bought my Native Watercraft Slayer Propel 13 from REI. Shipping was slow,  about 2 weeks, but free and I get a 10% rebate next year in REI bucks, $240. I bought my first kayak this spring, it started the addiction,at the Sports Authority, Perception a Pescador 12, it came with a good paddle, anchor and a roof top carrier. I beleive it was all under $600. It was in the store so no frieght. I think I got SA points too.

I bought my Revo 13 through Alaska Raft and Kayak in 2012. I bought my Aire Lynx 2 from them in 2005. Both times, the final price proved to be a shifting number from the time I thought we had a deal to the time I paid. That's my only criticism after dealing with them.  It also explains why, in 2013 when I bought a Hobie i12 for a friend, I purchased it through Kayak Shed in OR. They had a better rate on shipping, and the number never changed throughout our discussions.

My second boat, for guests, is an Ocean Malibu Two XL, purchased off the rack at REI. "Kit" included two seats and two paddles, all of which was on sale, plus we received REI's excellent rebate. BTW - Malibu Two XL can easily be rigged as a single and turned out to be an excellent fishing platform.
Good things come to those that wade.

I purchased 2 kayaks in 2009 from REI (OK Prowler Trident 15 & Necky Looksha 17 Composite).
The free shipping to Anchorage and the member rebate made it the logical choice at the time.
Shipping took approx. 2 weeks.

Hi Rudy.

I now kayak fish in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  I accepted a new position within the company and had to move to Houston, TX in March 2013.   I miss Alaska and all her beauty and adventures.

No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

Got my first Outback from a shop in Annapolis, Maryland, after testing a PA, Revo, and Outback.

Ordered the second Outback from Austin Canoe and Kayak (ACK). Great service and a reasonable shipping bill.

Any suggestions for a shop that can ship a Jackson kayak to Alaska this spring?

Sorry.  I missed this somehow.

I have not sen a jackson kayak up here.  Might have to ship it up.  All the Hobies are shied from outside dealers as well.

Oops...Hmm... Jackson Kayaks lists Alaska Kayak Academy in Palmer as a dealer.  You may try them.  Let us know!!!

Thanks, for the heads up Rudy, I'm currently in east Africa and many many website are blocked or just don't come through on the local web server.

Sent an email off to the Alaska Kayak Academy using an email addy that was in french but it worked and they replied right away.

This was the answer I got, $175 sounds like a great deal on shipping anything that size to Alaska so I'm stoked and looking at having it in state by the 20th of April.
