Great thread, all very inspiring! I'm hoping to just get out and fish from the kayak for the first time and many more times.

Just more of it all...

Pneumonia last July put a serious damper on 2014 fishing...missed 2 tournaments and months of fishing...

Gonna try to make up for lost fishing this year...

1-3 will be easy IF you get on the water. The ling cod is a different story. Will need a water taxi for the most part. Good news is if you keep one, it's gotta be at least 35" long so a 40" fish is completely within reason. I'm lining up a few possible trips for next year to go specifically after big lings. Season starts July 1. It goes downhill pretty quickly after the season opener though.

I've seen some whoppers caught in August ....a couple of them had their bellies full of whole silver salmon.  They are few and far between though.

I wanna go!!!! Please???
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

You are asking?  I am demanding!  Heck ya!  Need the A-team to maximize the odds of pulling out a massive fish.   The goal is to catch a keeper.  Then to  drop BIG bait down and wait for the monster.  I think the limit is two.  If not I still have a proxy.  I think 50 pounds is a good mark to go for.

I am working a few folks to head out of Homer in July.  I also have a couple of hardcore shrimpers out of Whittier that might take me if I pay fuel.  I figure it will take at least two attempts to break something reasonable like.

AKrod is going for a 60 pound king? egads.  I have caught literally dozens of kings over 50 pounds.  But I have only caught one over 60 and it was 71.  I was running the boat for two 60's however.  But that's over 40 years for fishing and none of those have come in the last ten years.    I think a 35 plus pounder out of the Kenai River would be a goal for me.  But in order to break 50 lbs with any level of possibility, I think it's going to be Kodiak at least next year.

All good stuff!
