I was doing some research online and came across this website.

http://www.mythicdrysuits.com/collections/drysuits

I know they obviously had to cut some corners somewhere to get the cost down.  No flashyness.  No flaps or pockets, but if they keep the water out that might be a good route for people on a budget.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Just my opinion... But I ascribe to the "buy once, cry once" with dry suits. The extra money is worth it when you consider the cost of repair or replacement. Kokatat service is continually impressive. The addition of the extra protection on on the angler suits is worth the extra alone.

I don't like that those budget suits have so much exposed gasket. It doesn't make sense to cut corners on something like that. I think the suit could look better, too. The use of less gasket material could clean up the aesthetics. A budget suit doesn't have to look like hot garbage.

If I was really just looking to do a budget suit I would to waders and a dry top.

maybe due to a combination of larger gaskets allowing for more fitting options (just cut to size), since they're only offered in "medium" or "large," and latex is hella cheaper than whatever breathable material that is so every square inch counts?

It seems they already had a recall on all of their suits for using inferior gaskets.  DOH!

NDogg's old beat up drysuit is pretty mythical.  How it still keeps out water is beyond my comprehension.

I ordered one. They were backordered but it should be here in a couple weeks. I will post my opinions after I have had it for a little while.

I don't think they look that bad, but I agree that exposing that much latex seems like potential for a lot of snags fishing.

I'm looking forward to hearing how these work out for someone on here.

Not just snags, they are more exposed to UV so they will break down faster.

you  might want to give some thought to wearing a lightweight nylon jacket over the suit to shield the latex from sun and other potential damage.

Or, try some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the latex for UV protection.  http://www.nrs.com/product/1909/303-aerospace-protectant   It's available at Cabela's or Sportsmans Warehouse stores too.
