Where y'all putting in at down here? Gonna take a little walk in a few minutes, get some blood moving after the drive down.

Most of us launch right off the end of the spit, between the Lands End hotel and the condos. It's hard to miss the spot. I'll probably be down if the highway isn't too bad from Soldotna.

Road from soldotna wasn't too bad.  Cooper landing to soldotna was the worst bit in my opinion.

We are staying at lands end, already seen the spot you're talking about.  Thanks!!

Thanks for the road update. I'll be bringing a brand new boat, so it may be kind of a goat show from me tomorrow.

some great reports. I've got my kid so we will pass. hope weather is good for the derby. I'm more scared of the roads than the water.

Wouldn't you know it, they changed my work schedule so I won't be able to pre fish Friday before the tournament. Looks like going to have to rely on tried and true methods, or some intel from other friendly kayak fishers.

Based on where I saw fish on the ole sounder I will probably not fish the tourney.  Not going to be able to fish that depth consistently.  Might swing thru to hit some Hali tho

I wouldn't let that stop you.  Sure it sucks to see fish and not get at them, but plenty of my fish come shallow. I'd say 90 percent. A diver or 10 oz sinker will give you a good chance.  I rarely use a down rigger. Last year both kings landed by kayaks came without a downrigger.

You want to fish Homer.
1) What GravesJacob said.
2) That's big water
3) It's one fish limit North of line sliughtly south of anchor point (ok, I am an optimist)
4) With a northern component, WG is exposed more.  Homer weather looks good.
5) Fewer boats fihsing that area...meaniong you will be alone.  Not so positive this time of year.  I like lots of boats around me.  Tells me I am in a decent spot, and the other boats are by far the best fish finders.

I start fishing Whiskey Gulch mid April with action picking up in mid may.

Spot forecast for Homer appears to be much better....
