We will be there. I think there is a fair number of people going out tomorrow.  Launching somewhere between 7-7:30am.

If you are going out onto the sand, 4 wheel drive is best.  Stay on the wet or compacted sand that everyone else is driving on.  Go as far down the beach as you can and find a spot to park, as far away from the water as possible. You will see the kayakers  loading up there.

Should be a good, calm and fishy day.

Sounds good! See ya there. Thanks for the info

Sounds fun! Maybe I'll try to get out there tomorrow.  If I can make it, I'll be in a chitty chitty bang bang Nissan pickup with a camo trident 13.
I'll just have to sneak out before the warden wakes up[emoji15]

Hey all,

Just a heads up, i've been here at PC since noon. Ocean has very lumpy conditions with considerable wind...all day. Likely going to be worse tomorrow w drizzle. Talked to 2 yak guys that came out did ok before 11 am. See you in the mañana, got to hit low tide launch early.
Mother ocean is going to make us work a bit harder.

Disappointed, couldn't bring myself to launch today. Swell was much higher than the prediction showed. Nice to meet some of you guys today. Next time! I won't chicken out  :(

Nothing wrong with knowing your own limits.    :icon_cheers:

As Tinker said you made the right call. If you're ever not feeling good about it then don't do it, a few (or many) fish are not worth risking it if you're not feeling comfortable. Also know that just because some may feel it's okay for them doesn't mean you have to be okay with it for you. You know your limits which is good.

Little Cos and I did the same thing.  We got to the parking lot at the Pelican at 6:45, it was raining pretty steady, and the rollers were coming in one after another. The weren't big, just in rapid succession.  We watched a few dory boats go out and looked at how badly they were getting beaten up by the swells.  Looked like a washing machine out there.  The forecast called for the day to get worse not better later.  We both agreed it was doable, but wouldn't be fun at all, so we headed home.

After we got home, we looked at the Pacific City webcam and knew we made the right call.  Dory's were gone, no boats out and the water was still ugly.  There's always next time.

The only mistake we made was not having a plan b in mind, like tidewater chinook.  Next time I will make sure we have a back up plan.

You made the right call Sharkcatcher.  Today was not a good day for your first time.

A decision to avoid combining the first launch with the last one is always admirable.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and advice, I just am kind of disappointed in myself for not launching, bummed because I was super stoked to get out there. But as you all have said, there's always next time
