wow I think the boss himself is going to cover my shift. reserving now.

So did the boss agree with PelagicPaddler's response that you should be at the tournament representing AlderCreek?

If I can pull this off, it will be my FIRST kayak adventure!!!!  It sounds like a blast.  Is there any chance someone could give me a call (541) 271-1929 and fill me in on what to expect, is it Sat only Sunday only or Sat and Sun?  I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully get everything finalized.

First off, welcome to NWKA!

I assume you've read all of the ORC2010 related threads?  Are you completely new to kayak fishing or just new to us?  Are you planning on camping or just showing up for the event.  The event is Saturday although many of us will be there the whole weekend at the campsite.  If you plan on signing up make sure and do so prior to the event.

Welcome to the site! Great to see new members getting involved and wanting to get into the thick of it!

Depoe Bay isn't a place I would personally recommend for someone's first ever kayak fishing outing, unless of course you've spent a lot of time kayaking on the ocean or fishing on the ocean from a power boat or know the area well already. But hey, as previously mentioned(in one of the handful of threads on the ORC) you're your own person and can do what you want. I will ask though that you make sure you have all the requisite safety gear necessary for a trip out on the salt. Please reference the safety thread on this forum if you haven't already as it will answer most if not all of your questions. There's a lot to learn and not enough time to learn it if you plan on making it.

I just got work from Brian "Alkasazi" that Outdoor Play has shipped me the second place prize paddle.   This is the third year in a row that Outdoor Play has put up a sweet kayak paddle for an ORC prize.   According to the tracking email  I just got, it's an Aqua Bound Swell Plus (carbon/fiberglass) paddle.  I imagine that's an upgrade for most of us here.

Here's the URL to check it out on the Outdoor Play site.

Enjoy the paddle, and have fun this weekend! Sorry I can't deliver it in person this year, but family's taking precedence. We'll still get plenty of fishing in, just a bit further east than originally planned.

Don't you get "sick time"?  Just say your eyes hurt, and you can't see yourself coming into work.

ppssssssssttttttt, INSAYN, the correct medical term is Anal Glaucoma.... when you cant see your ass going into work that day....
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but Anal Glaucoma is usually bothering old people.

Just a couple questions...

Will this be a group launch or can we start when we feel like it?

Figuring no backup venue, is Depoe Bay the only area we can fish?

Do you have to be a NWKA member or is the tournament open to anyone?

Really glad to hear the forcast is agreeable.  Looking forward to getting out on the ocean and having some fun.  See you there - Alan

You can launch whenever you want, Just have to sign the waiver by 7:00 AM and make the check-in which i assume is still 3:30?

For the tournament as it is now. yes, unless theres a salty subsitute should the conditions not cooperate

Don't think you would have to be a member, just have to pay with the paypal link on the site and sign the waiver

This is just from what i assumed, so i could be totally wrong...

See you up there Alan, hopefully.
See ya on the water..

I do say, however, that a shotgun start out of DB would be news worthy...

I might think the C.G. and the Harbormeister might prefer us to have a shotgun start, so we get wet and gone together without stragglers between the PB's?
