Being that this event is closing in fast I think its probably a good time for this thread.

  • If we are doing a pot luck like last year, who's bringin' what?
  • Who is camping with us in the group site?  What night(s)?
  • Is anyone pre-fishing on Friday?

I've got an RV space for Friday and Saturday nights. I'll bring chowder like last year.

My kids hate clam chowder and they're still talking about how good yours is.  Bring an extra pot for me!   ;D

I'll plan on bringing the terryaki chicken again.

Should I bring the rice cookers too?

I'm contemplating pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and slaw for all comers on Friday night... Just find me and dinner is on me.

Should give those prone to the "rainbow yawn" a nice smokey aroma on the salt Saturday ;D >:D

I'll bring some form of dessert item (I'll update as the date closes in)

It's looking like Matt_K and I will be coming in later Thursday evening.  Hopefully someone in the group site can leave a light on for us to show us where to go. (It'll probably be nearly 11pm)

I'm on the fence about pre-fishing, but I will definitely want to go check out the launch beforehand.  Maybe fish the river on Friday?

Here's the latest odfw rec. report for the Siletz:

Steelhead angling is slow to fair but starting to pick up. The summer steelhead run is under way with scattered fish being picked up throughout the river. Peak return time for summers is June and July. The winter steelhead run is over with a small number of wild and hatchery fish still in the river. Cutthroat trout fishing is now open for the season. Anglers can expect good fishing for cutthroat trout throughout most of the basin. Using small spinners or fly fishing can be very productive.

a little digging gave up this gem:

Sounds like we will be there at peak summer stealhead time! Maybe do a taxi up the river and do a drift down to another vehicle on friday?

If I remember correctly, this was my favorite from last year!

Not really necessary to get this complicated. The tide reaches many miles above the campground. Just drift down the the outgoing tide for an hour or so an then follow it back up.
