Right. It's about scrounging in the garage for the most ridiculous gear that just might work. Never tried a hand line. Might have to give one a go. So what's the draw opposed to a rod & reel Nanook?

We should have a DIY MBF in WA or OR .... maybe for RF or LC.

DIY virtual tourney ... so we can all participate ... WA, OR, and CA!!!

-Allen

I'd be All In on that.
See you at Gimme Shelter

OK ... lets nail this down
Event runs from now till end of summer. Aug. 31? Unless we want to do just one weekend.

All gear must be home made.
That mean only hooks, swivels, snaps, split rings, leaders, crimps can be purchased from the tackle shop. Everything else must be made by YOUR hands.

NO other things can be purchased that are fishing specific!

Largest fish in each category. Rock fish, Lingcod, greenling, cabezon, halibut. All AOTY rule apply.
Each fish posted must include a pic of the lure used and a description of how it was made. Entries can be held to end of contest to keep people from copying your lures.

Any other ideas? Are we allowing fish finders?

Keep it simple.  How about?

One weekend.
Handmade lures.
NWKA AOTY points/scoring system.  Most total points wins.

I like it.

My 2 cents is that the only "pre-made fishing product" you can use are hooks.  Everything else must be made by your own hands or sourced from non-fishing related materials/products etc.  Lets see some some homegrown creative building skills.  Split rings and swivels make it to easy.

What about key ring sized split rings?  That seems legit.

Sounds good but how about we keep it like a regular tourney, single largest fish?

I like the sounds of this.  I have so many stupid ideas for lures.

Damn! I just threw a 4 foot long piece of flexible steel 220 volt wire sheathing (not proper electrician terms i'm guessing) in the recycling bin last week.

How about over all winner for single largest fish then also largest of each species? Since this is not a single location event so why limit ourselves?
I would love to see what people come up with for all types of fishing lures. From lingcod to LMB.

Thoughts?

That's a lot of winners/prizes.

I don't so much care about the scoring system so I'm fine with whatever.

I do care about doing this as a virtual tourney and throwing the glove down at NCKA (or visa versa depending on which side of the street I'm standing on).  I think it will be a lot of fun!!!
