what?! no trout, musky, pike, walleye, lake trout or other fresh water fish allowed on the list? some of those salt water species i'd never heard of, like a "johnny bass".  who set this up ?

go for it guys, and good luck. not much i can do from the desert southwest.

Hmmmm,

My read of the rules says that nether your team members, nor your fishing grounds are limited to your region. :dontknow:
And there can be some distinct advantages in terms of point standings to having a national variety of species available.

Looks like fun. Easy to piggy back your effort with AOTY.  After  looking at the list of west coast species an Oregon/Washington angler seems a little limited in local point scoring fish.  Looks like 5 commonly available species and 4 available but not often caught fish.  Might make being competitive on the grand scale tough.  FFTW might have a good idea about having a ringer(s) in another region(s)

I think a dedicated NW team could crush this.
So far those I have
    PolePole
    Coosbayyaker
    Kykfshr
    Fungunnin
    Pelagic Paddler? you in?

If you look at the scoring the way to win is to be entering full amounts for the easy to catch species each month. Limits don't mater and you are credited for each fish over the minimum size. Plus as one of the few if not only NW teams winning the bonuses for largest of each species will be a lot easier.

If we can max out
rockfish 50 per team per month 10 points per
       lingcod  20 / 30
       cabezon 20 /30

If we can do that for 6 months that is 10200 points ... Only two teams were over 10k last year.

Add in salmon and other rock fish species and with just those we could take this.

Can I play?

Up to Palagic Paddler ... He would have been the fifth man.

Before we finalize the team I am hoping that everyone on the team is able to get out and fish a bunch this year. The only way to be in this is to be taking lots of pictures of lots of fish.

Just got an E-Mail from the guy who runs this. All members of a team have to be from the same region(sorry,Wali), i would have had you on my team..

I think we are gonna need 2 NWKA teams most likely. The best way to do this would be to have 2 captains and have a pool of 6-10 people to choose from and each captain takes turns picking?

Looks to be a 100% east coast and south coast thing so far Rich, which is foreign to me.. we are gonna have to change that

I think we put personal pride aside and put forth the best team for NWKA pride.  I won't fish as much this year (baby duty!) as you other guys so I'll gladly place myself on the 2nd team (or 3rd team or 4th team).

BTW, is there any sort of daily limit placed on number of entries?  I'm sure if a couple of us got on a decent bite of blacks, we could fill the 50 fish monthly limit in a day.  That's the biggest bang for your buck.  Or a nice day on the undersized sturgeon bite in the Astoria area could really wreak havoc.  Or a week on the Foggy Bay trip with butts and yelloweyes.  The strategy discussions should be fun.
