I went out last year and started to feel woozy after just fifteen minutes so now I have dramamine in my go bag and use it every time 30 minuted before launch. I know it doesn't work for some and others say it makes them sleepy but it keeps me in good shape on the water.

I think I have everything you guys listed but dramamine and 6 ounce jigs.  I think the heaviest I have are 4 ounce.  I guess a quick trip to Fisherman's will have to be made tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Have fun guys! I think I saw game clips at the West Marine in Tigard. If fisherman's doesn't have them you might want to swing by WM. They're right next to the Home Depot next to 217.

If you are putting in a full day, food and water are a must! I usually bring a turkey leg or two. Good protein, compact size easy to hold and no garbage to worry about.......

I like to back plenty of snacks with me, but turkey legs would be worse than less-drowsy Dramamine.
For some reason, anything that could remotely cause drowsiness WILL kick my butt.
I can't even eat turkey bacon for breakfast, or turkey sandwich for lunch at work, as I'd be nodding off the rest of the shift.   :-\

As of now, I plan to be there.  I am looking forward to it.  I have a license, radio, horn, pfd (and other misc. safety items I always keep in the yak), safety flag, rods, fish finder, lip gripper, camera, measuring device, fillet knife, and soft plastics/jigs.   I need to get a game clip and hope to find one at a local dive shop tomorrow.

What am I missing?

Rod & Reel!!!

My go-to lunch/snack on the water is a couple peanut butter and honey on toasted wheat bread sandwiches.  Easy on your stomach if you are prone to getting queasy. For the most part they are shelf stable, plus they are full of energy, both short term (honey) and long term (peanut butter). A 2 liter water bladder full of water with a touch of Cytomax in it and I'm good for a full day of fishing.

An empty stomach is a recipe for nausea, at least for me. As is stuffing yourself.  I pull out the sandwiches every hour or so, take a couple bites, drink some water and go back to fishing. I used to get really seasick, now with some meds (scopace) and a little planning (above plus a "neutral" breakfast) " I am bomb proof even in the roughest conditions.

I have been queasy on every trip out, puked just about every trip out, but cannot stand the drowsy meds.
I may give Scopace a try, but I hate "cotton mouth" even more, and hear that is a common side effect.

Having to piss while dressed as I do, would also deter me from meds that require lots of water to feel right.  :-\
Does chewing gum help with the cotton mouth, vs. gobs of water?

When I used the scopace patch cotton mouth was an issue.    Now that I use the scopace in pill form I hardly notice any.  Any side effects are well worth the trade offs, for me at least.

Maybe that was what I heard was based on the patch.
If dry mouth is minimal from the pill, maybe fruity gum could neutralize any remaining effects.
I'll have my secretary schedule me a consult with my doc for next week and get me a prescription for some Scopace.

I'm a firm believer in 80% solutions.    If you can take care of 80% of the issues, you're in business.  The return on investment drops rapidly as you approach 100%.
Since drowsiness represents the remaining 30% for me, I roll with it.  Dry mouth sounds like the final 5% if the scopace pills work out.  Small price in discomfort to solution a large price in discomfort.

-T .h .p .o .t .-

I'm actually fine with the occasional chumming if don't have to take any anti-chumming meds in the first place, but I cannot stand cotton mouth one bit.  Hated it when I ran track and cross country in high school, so I ran faster to get the race over quicker.  That worked out really well as I just noticed last week that my 800m, 1600m and 3200m scores are in the top 6 ever for my old high school.  And when I had my reconstructive knee surgery, they gave me Vicodin to use for the pain.  It caused cotton mouth, and I was more comfortable with soaking up the pain.  Weird I know, but that is me.   Drowsiness for most folks, is asleep for me.  It might have something to do with my Dracula work schedule?

I'll give Scopace pills a try and see how I am.  Been using the essential oil drops and they seem to work good too.
