I would personally hope 09' AOTY is restricted to Yaks only???   Heck, I regularly fish out of a friends 20ft wille drift boat, its about close to a yak and the trend setting ideas of yak fishing and this site, as an apple is to an orange.  I honestly hope we keep it limited to yaks (human powered of course ;D).  Pelagic

I know what the rules state.   :)

A little history on allowing all human powered watercraft ... traditionally many kayak anglers start out paddling some craft other than kayaks.  All of our events here at NWKA have been open to all forms of human powered watercraft.  In fact, last years Everett Coho salmon derby human powered watercraft division as won by a driftboat.  While we mostly get kayaks at our events, we've had rowboats (Pisco Sicko) and up a Moutcha there as a guy fishing out of a pontoon.

Although the everett derby was won by a driftboat, I consider a driftboat (or raft or normal sized pontoon) as unfair competition on a river.  You can do things out of them that you can't do out of a kayak.

All that being said, I'm fine restricting to kayaks only going forward.  Sorry Pisco Sicko.

I finally got the new 2009 AOTY application up and running properly.  Unfortunately I lost all of last years fish photos in the process.  I thought I had a back up, but I didn't.

Anyway, everything is set.  If you signed up in the past and have a login and password you should be able to still use that account (you still need to pay for 2009).  If you haven't already you'll need to register.  http://aoty.northwestkayakanglers.com

As for payment, there is a link on the NWKA front page.  The cost is $40 again this year.  Once I get the pay pal confirmation that you've paid I will look for your AOTY account and activate it for this year by entering the date you paid.

So far Roy "Bluetrident" and myself are all signed up and ready to fish.  There are two others that have paid, but still need to register with AOTY.

I'm looking forward to wider participation this year.  So far everyone but myself that have paid are new to AOTY.

would you consider grandfathering pisco, and only pisco, into this since we've accepted him wooden boat and all over a year ago? while he doesnt make a lot of the events we do, he has been a contributing member with information and support

I'm in! Now I need to get a fishing license.

This should be really fun, and inspire me to try catching new species(new to me anyway)!

Good Luck GD!  I should be in too.  Is there a list that shows us we are good to go?  I'd like to go fishing soon if we can ever get Mother Nature to settle down.

Roy,

Dino's it is! Umpqua? Siuslaw? I'll ask around! Portland if we have too!

Actually in the old days, before they dammed the Siltcoos river, Siltcoos lake was known for the big beasties! Too bad there weren't kayak fishermen then. Well, only if you don't count the original Siltcoos residents.

By the way, Smith river for smallmouths is also on my agenda for this year.

I like what you did with the categories.  It's nice to know if they shut down Cabezon again you still have a shot at picking up a rockfish or greenling and getting some points.

One question, if a lake has no runs of anadromous trout should all the fish be counted as trout no matter what ODFW is planting there?  I can foresee a discussion of trying to judge if a "trout" is a recycled steelhead or a broodstock rainbow.

Nothing against your work Brian but personally, I prefered the simplicity of the old lineup.
