I signed up for he AOTY on Friday 5/30, caught some fish the next day. I recorded them  but the points did not transfer to the leader board.  I was wondering why, or  what I need to do to to make the points show up there.

I hadn't enabled your account yet.  I just did and it's all good now.

Good job BOR. The AOTY is really starting to show why it's so fun. I was the first poster and now there's plenty that's moved ahead... not that it'll be like that for long. :angryfire: Really though, I love the horse race that is the AOTY and it really gets us out there to fish more and for species that we'd never normally go for. Let the games begin!!

So when do the prizes start showing up?  I'm sure I could pull some strings for donations from Englund Marine, Sportsman's, etc...

Maybe someone else could get something from NRS, OK, and other kayak mfg's and vendors.

Prizes aren't awarded until the end of the year.  Ideally we'd meet up at some even in Jan or Feb to award the prizes.  Allen (PolePole) is in charge of getting sponsors for the event.  From what I understand he doesn't want to burn any bridges with sponsors by asking for too much quite yet.  It's a bit of a catch-22, you need sponsored prizes to get people to sign up and you need people to sign up to get/keep sponsors.  We currently have 14 people registered (BTW, did you pay FishSniffer?  Allen doesn't have you down as paid), from what I understand the "pay out" ratio already pretty high.  Anyway, contact Allen when he gets back from  Alaska, I'm sure we wouldn't mind some help.

BTW, did you pay FishSniffer?

Nope, I'm a cheap-a$$.  That and I'm a disabled vet living on a fixed income for the most part.  With all the nice weather we've been having I chose new tires for the Harley instead.  Guit me some more and maybe...

Looking at the point spread and the fact I live at the waters edge, I could do fairly well, on the days I'm physically able to get on the water.  Coupla nice Siletz Steelhead or bluebacks and I'd be lookin good.

Is there a thread with last years prizes posted?

Greg,

This didn't happen here last year.  Generally the entry fees will be part of a cash payout or will be used to buy extra prizes.  Other prizes are donated to the event by sponsors (check out the AOTY Sponsor adds at the top left of the site).   I believe the final prize list is going to be based on the number of final entries, but the sponsors involved the overall cash value of payout per entry should be pretty high.

There are several saltwater species of perch as well as freshwater. Can they be added? 1 or 2 catagories (fresh/ salt)?

When will we be able to sign up for 2009?  I'd hate to register my "ice fish" before it's legal.  Wonder what the kayak ice fishing record is..., and how does that relate to AOTY 2009?

I'll set up sign up soon.  I'm travelling right now for the holidays, but I'll be back before the new year.  Remember there are two steps to signing up.. first paying via the paypal link (to be posted soon) and second registering with the AOTY website itself.

As for species list, I think we almost have it settled.

Don't worry about it, I run both AOTYs and an extra sign up here or there doesn't hurt anything.

Ummm ... I am under the impression that any human powered watercraft counts for NWKA AOTY.
