WWQCI,

Good to see someone from other than WA or OR playing this year.  Yes, we did have halibut last year, but we've attempted to trim the species list down to 10 and halibut didn't make the cut.  We're still refining the system so who knows it might show back up next year.

I'm sure you'll have a decent chance to dominate the rockfish, salmon, and lingcod sections.

I see that you've paid, just don't forget to also register on the AOTY site...

All local water rules must be followed.  Ask yourself, could you have legally retained the fish?  If the answer is yes, then that fish may count towards your points.
So this just means legal caught according to regs...I dont have to kill the fish right? just take pics?

Yep, please catch photo release as often as you want.  We just need photos of you're fish against a measuring device.  A glory shot of you with your fish is also very nice to include.

That would have been a great idea.  Why didn't we think of that?   ???

We did merge a few other species into groups this year.  However, people have already signed up and paid given the current rules.  Definitely something to think about for next year.

Yup.  I'm not advocating to change it.

sniffle...sniffle... :'(
Im sure someone has talked about this somewhere but I can't find it anywhere...The rules about going to shore to land a fish hooked on the yak...Im guessing its illegal...but confirm that for me...The fish must be hooked and landed without touching the shore?

And what about land anchoring? Like tying off to an overhanging tree or log jam in a river?

Yep, you need to hook and land them in the kayak.

Go ahead and anchor to what ever you want.

Being from out east I think of the NW as being Halibut, Salmon and Steelhead...Im just a bit surprised one of these species got axed and noone found a way to include it...But thats the last complaint out of me...lol...I'll shut up now and fish :) I'm sure you guys put a ton of time into making this as fair and well planned...From what I see from last year it is a huge success and looked so good I had to spend my deflated Canadian dollar on being a part of it :) Glad to be a part of it in 2009...I just hope Im not relocated to out east until after the season...
