Dayum, that's a helluva point total.   :o

Not good enough....  With as many "trophy" fish as Fungunnin has entered, I say we withhold any winnings unless he can top 1900pts.    >:D

It's hard to compete with unique Alaskan locations like Foggy Bay.
I'm out!

Maybe it will offset 1/3 of the trip cost

I agree I can do better and if I get some more free time I'll get the line wet again soon.
That last stupid perch was the hardest to catch. 6 days of wind and driving rain had me a bit frustrated, but I think I've figured out the late season bite.
Stay tuned ...

That yellow perch could eat my surf perch. I hope to replace it soon with a nice plump yellow perch of my own.  :)  But, I have been distracted with Quack Yakkin' as of late.

Stand by..

It's crazy how ""that last stupid Perch"" that took 6 days to catch in Washington, gains you only the 131 points, but 5 days in Alaska can bank over 1000 points. :) Freakin crazy!

Yup ... I guess that's why they call it fishing not catching :D

I am sure you can relate. Learning a new fishery takes time and bad conditions don't help.

I don't see the problem here Jammer.  The rule to allow boat transport of kayak and fisherman to a point of origin has been a part of the AOTY since it's inception.  This rule has been discussed repeatedly over the years and always found to be fair.

As for Fungunnin's points during the trip:
- He got lucky this year.  Last year his best fish from Foggy Bay was 191pts.
- This year Fungunnin got 3 trophy fish from Foggy Bay, only one of which would have been "impossible" from Oregon or Washington.
- Fungunnin also managed 2 trophy class fish from his own state.
- All of his fish were legally caught in areas open to retention.

Spot... I'm fully aware that Fungunnin played by the rules this year. I do feel like there's a lot grey area's in the AOTY rules, but will save that for another thread. I feel very fortunate to finish where i did, but like so many others on here, I can't afford to hit Alaska every year to seriously compete.
Nice job FG!:) Well played.

You do realize that there are still 34.5 days left don't you?  That's almost 10% of the contestable days.  Plenty of time for upgrades if you're serious about winning.   ;D

Make sure to address the grey areas in the 2013 AOTY thread or volunteer with polepole to be on the AOTY 2013 steering committee.  And, keep in mind that buying a ticket to Foggy Bay doesn't guarantee that you'll win the AOTY.  You still need a lot of skill and a healthy heaping of luck.

I feel for jammer's point.IT's way hard to catch fish Here at time's.. BUT agree the rules were followed, And Maybe A Pro Div needs to be added, Like the bass classic's,But I guess what it will boil down too, is How Close the Rules are followed on the Pics, While All have Posted Very Nice fish..And we all know How hard to get a good measurement pic is. Maybe We wait and see Who ends up on top After the judging is done, I mean Is it even Possable to get a clear Picture of fish that Big ,Even My biggest fish Pic's not the Best,But if the Rules of Closed Mouth and clear Pic's are followed alot of Good fish may Fall, and thing's might change, Me I'm wanting to Know When and How much to sign up for Next year..and Who win's WHAT..

A pro division for a contest with less than 50 participants?!  I think we should all get a trophy for participating, you know, like little league t-ball.
