is there a NWKA team for this yet

I'm 95% in, just need to finalize a few details on my end, but I REALLY wanna go.
Pelagic, islandson671, jgrady, Yaksurf, Bluewrx02, PNW - lets do it!

"Team Ninkasi NWKA", would be an awesome team name.

I'm about 90% in rain or shine.  I just need to play with my schedule a bit.

Eric how is the ab diving at shelter cove?
If I'm reading the regs correct ab season will be open.
Can we purchase fishing license and ab tags in shelter cove?

We can get fishing licenses in Medford on the way down.  Not sure about the Ab tags.  :-\

Eric, what's the skinny on single day Shellfish/Crab licenses, I'm not seeing the option in the Regs.

If I remember right from me and B's last trip down to Mendo, last stop to get a license was in Trinidad.

Ab season will be in full swing (starts April 1st), and the abalone population at Shelter Cove is one of the strongest along the northern California coast.  There are some fantastic minus tides in conjunction with the tournament - especially pre-tournee.  As for fishing opportunities prior to the rockfish/lingcod opener on tournee day, salmon season should be open.  Salmon come especially close to shore at Shelter Cove - I caught a 38 pounder less than a mile from launch in 2006, and I've caught many other salmon close in over the years there.  Pacific Halibut season will also be open as of May 1st, and they are in closer at The Cove than most places as well.

Registration for the tournament ends a month prior to the event.  I hope you guys make it down.   :)
See you at Gimme Shelter

A few more questions to some items I'm not finding clear answers for myself.

1.) Halibut don't need a punch card like we do up here in Oregon, correct?

2.) California invasive species permit?
Is there a requirement for this, or will my Oregon invasive species permit work?

Thanks!

No Halibut punch card needed.  No CA invasive species permit.

Is the Halibut season open prior to Saturday May 12th?
I'm not finding the Cali regs very easy to follow.   :-\

Pacific halibut opens May 1. Section 28.20.

And yeah, the organization of the fish and game regs is confusing.

hey Paul thanx for the map. gave me an idea.

how wild is this ?; the crew going down pools resources, charters a plane piloted by demonick and you land at shelter cove airport.

be interesting to see how aerodynamic yaks are strapped to the skids of a Dehavilland  >:D

two problems come to mind. a Beaver isn't big enough for eveyones gear, and how do you get it all from the airport to the campground if you could swing this?

As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.
