Grandmother on the wife's side passed away at 96.  So I had to take a trip to Utah for the funeral, so Fri is out for me.  :(  Hopefully I can make it back to fish Saturday.  :-\  Hopefully I will be able to find sandshrimp in some store by that time.  Doubtful though!  :(
PROGRESS IS JUST BEING THERE!

I launched at Austin Point, it's Port of Woodland property that is located on the north side of the mouth of the Lewis. Permits are required for entry but are very seldom checked, they can be purchased at the port office for $5 for two years. Austin point has a nice sandy beach for launching and some PB'ers even launch sleds there on the sand, there is no paved boat launch.
If it wasn't for flashbacks, I'd have no memories at all.

I am going to launch out of Sellwood/Oaks park on Friday, weather permitting. I have done real well lately downstream from there on the east side for keeper sized fish.  I know for a fact that it will be crowded with PB's. I would like to meet some of you folks at GR park on Saturday after I have one in the freezer. Fishing solo is awesome, but I have been doing it ever since I started kayak fishing. Herring has been my bait of choice, and I only use half, marinated overnight in Sturgeon Feast. You can recognize me from my avatar picture if you're out there and say hi. Thanks

Welcome minnowmagnet! I think everyone's goal is a keeper this weekend! How many feet of water are you fishing in? I'm tempted to head down there on Friday and give it a try. I fished George Rogers on Sunday and didn't do very well. Are you going to be there at first light?

If I don't get anything on Friday I may be at Sellwood Saturday afternoon.  I have never caught anything there,  but it is 5 minutes from my house.

I'm going to head up and try to catch a keeper.  I'm going to fish Friday and possibly Saturday if I don't get a nice keeper on Friday.  I'm planning on launching from GR Friday morning.

I am going to try GR on Saturday.  Talked to a guide on Monday. He gave me some smelt soaked in garlic. I caught 2 shakers within a few minutes after he left.  I am soaking smelt in garlic as I write this.

Is there a chance that other species of fish will be biting this weekend? Salmon, Steelhead, Bass?

I could use some AOTY points :P

People are fishing the area for Springers, however I have read of exactly four caught on ifish for many, many boats trying. Three on the Willamette and one on the Columbia. The Sellwood area gets some early pressure and one of the fish was caught there. You could give it a shot but I'd say your chances of catching one is about 1%. I might give it a try on Sunday just for kicks.
