I'll bring a knife .... or three.
The pre fryer prep session goes pretty quick with a few guys going production style. Last year PolePole was chief skinner and pin
boner. With a few assistans and guys bringing in fish we should be able to bang out the fillet part in a few hours.
After the camp fish are filleted or during lulls I will be more than happy to show fillet techniques.
If you want to bring your knife make sure it is sharp. I'll try and get a few extra from work too. For rockfish nothing over 8" is needed and not too flexible.

I've never cleaned a rockfish but happy to learn. Willing to pitch in where needed.

Also willing to sail around and take photos and video.

IHop no need to clean. You can fillet around the guts. Learned from the master...Fungunnin...

I've never gutted a rockfish.  Just cut down the back, and carve along the ribs.

Bill putting on a class again this year?

If I can get my ducks in order I'd be happy to help on the fish cleaning line.

It is our annual get together/ fishing tournament held out at Depoe Bay. Do a search for ORC and you will find lots of information. Come out and fish of just come out and say hi. Either way it is sure to be a fun time.

I will bring my knife sharpening stones and jig to help out. As per previous posts, I am happy to help wherever I can.

I hope to learn how to prep a Cabezon as I have never done so before.

Starting the chants for good weather :-)

Chants are for good ocean conditions and little to no wind.
Rain is my preferred weather, starting my chanting now.

There is a good chance you will get the opportunity to fillet a cabi. They tend to get donated to the dinner as they have are a bit of a pain to fillet.

Question:

In looking at the campsite map, it appears to be quite a big place.  Since I will probably be the first person from the group checking in, should I just let the camp staff tell me where best to setup?  I will be tent camping from Tue-Sun and really dont want to have to pull up camp on Thur/Fri to be closer or integrated into the larger NWKA group.  So to the orgs from last year, what area should I setup in?

I have a couple of 20'X30' blue tarps.Would/could they be useful at ORC ?
Will also bring a Big Buddy Heater to keep more sedentary folks warm.
Any other need that need to be fulfilled ?
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

The tarps could be strung over Lee's tent to keep it dry, provided you don't bring some Unicorn dust to repel the rain instead.   ;)

Just let them know you're with the kayak fisher-peeps and they'll direct you to the group camp site.  It's pretty big so you can just pick your spot.  That's where everyone/everything will be.

LOL, tent.  Not this year.  You don't think I posted that Salish Resort special for no reason do you?  Fish, massage, Taco potluck goodness.  Yeah, gonna be an epic weekend.
