I believe you can donate to different activities within the charity. One being geared toward rowing, water safety and marine life. Thought that was pretty cool.

Probably won't fish with a kiddie pole, but I'll definitely donate.

I haven't looked but are there any local/coastal charities that benefit kids.  I know hunger/unemployment and drug addiction are big problems in Oregon's coastal communities for young adults and the children that are affected by these losers.  Perhaps we could with a little looking find a way to help out in the immediate local community.   Our small donation will have a bigger impact in a small local organization than one of the larger national ones.

Slight modification    ;)

I vote you split the donation between the two new chapters of Heroes on the Water staring up in OR and WA. I could be slightly biased but Vets have kids, too and we are just in the process of getting our groups launched and Dino and I would appreciate the support.

These are all really good options, Craig.  Thanks for finding them.   The Childrens Advocacy Center and Neighbors for Kids both jump out at me.  HOW is a worthy cause too!

This is FIRST CLASS guys!

How to decide on which charity is more worthy.... (I know I cant)

I would rather see the winner gets to choose where it goes, as there is no "wrong" answer.
Better to keep ones mouth shut and presumed a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

browneysvictim has a good point "let the winner decide where the proceeds go".
And like he said "there is no wrong answer". Everyone wins..........
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Nice. Perhaps we can pass around a coffee can for donations on Friday and Saturday night? I'm not going to mess around with the kiddie rod but I'd be happy to throw some $$$ into the donation pool.

IHop, you can have the kayak for HOW when I win it. ;D  If I came home with another yak, my wife would kill me.  The garage is full of them.  I like the pass the coffee can idea too.  I have a Spiderman pole, but I still haven't made up my mind yet.
