Oh, I agree.  It's totally worth it.  Still a spendy trip though.  Granted a tuna charter is more ...

Just picked up a SOT today, plan on coming down if I can get some hours on the boat between now and then (haven't kayaked salt before, any tips for a casual river paddler?)

My son and I are all paid up!

Lets review last year....

9th place not good enough.  Lets see if Zinger or I can step it up a notch this year.   8)

Not sure what to do yet with one of my GoPro's Wifi back pack.  The dumb thing stopped working no display no nothing.   Tried to email the GoPro team but have had no success getting a hold of them.   If anyone has the scoop for getting a hold of these folks,  please let me know.

Can't make it this year.
I'm on the IR wright now, but will be planning on 2014. Have to gather up some Nor-Cal anglers to make the event next year. :headbang:

Yes, I had one last couple years.  Had to have them fix the outlet one year but they were right on top of it.

Glad to hear you'll be there again Dave,

I picked up a few "red" Big Hammers I might have to try this year----do you still think they'll work on some big boys ?
See ya in a few weeks.

I have no reservations about it!  ;D   Sure had a great time last year.  Looking forward to this one.   Johns video's of GS7 has got me all stoked up about hitting the salt again.  Might need to take an extra trip down before the ORC.  Geese, If I was to even whimper that idea around my boy, he would be dragging my butt down there already.  ;D

3 day non-resident is $46.25 and you can purchase it online. An invasive species permit can be purchased at REI, Fishermans Marine and similar stores. I think I paid either $5 or $7 for my permit.

edit:
go here: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales/index.asp to purchase all of it online and have it mailed to you or you can print the invasive permit.

$67.50 to get a 3 day angling and shellfish license plus ISP.  This will easily be a $400 trip.

Would be cool if it were planned around the free fishing weekend(s) Oregon offers

That would be nice.  However, a big reason for the timing of this year's event was the closure of cabezon retention prior to July 1.  Since cabezon has been a contender if not winning species pretty much every year, and you can't really enter a fish without killing and retaining it, it only made sense to move the dates into legal cabezon retention seasons.

Not sure why it was set for the weekend after the free fishing weekend last year, but I'm sure there was a purpose behind that schedule.

Yeah, this year's free fishing weekend is probably too early for the event as it's this coming weekend
