I was talking to a buddy last night who is a veteran and told him about this event and Heros On the Water and he is interested in signing up.  The big problem is that he does not own a kayak: Do you guys know of a cheap way to get him a kayak and PFD for the event?  I have some immersion gear he can borrow so that's covered.  I know it's short notice, but I figured I would check.

I wanted to address this post, because this is a biggie. Heroes On the Water supplies Veterans with kayaks, fishing gear, PFD, apparel...etc. If anyone out there knows a member of the US Military (current or former) that would benefit from a day on the water with us please refer them to our Facebook page or www.HeroesOntheWater.org, where they can contact their local chapter.

PLEASE DO NOT let the fact that a Veteran does not own a kayak or have immersion wear keep him or her from contacting us. WE PROVIDE THAT STUFF!!! (actually we borrow a lot of gear from our awesome volunteers, but we are adding inventory all the time)

That is all.

Anthony

Looks like the weather is going to turn to crap on us.  I hope it doesn't make the bite any harder.

I don't know, besides the wind, which is basically inevitable, it doesn't look that bad to me. Falling barometer all week, partly cloudy instead of mega-hot... It could be worse!

Langcod, is it possible to head in to the Kayak Shed to sign up on Wednesday or Thursday or do I have to wait until Saturday? Thanks!

Hmmmm...only 12 entrants.  That just increased my odds of winning to 1 in seven billion.

Last I heard the actual number was at about 20. Is you wife still going to kill you if you bring home a free kayak?

Not a free one.  She likes free stuff as much as me.

See ya'll tomorrow. Best of luck, and keep safe.  Forecast could be a lot worse. I predict quite a few fish on the virtual board.

FYI:  I had troubles getting the FAX line at the Kayakshed to pick up yesterday so I couldn't FAX in my waiver.  To make sure I was legal, I e-mailed a scanned copy of the signed waiver to the [email protected] and they confirmed reciept.  If you're haing trouble getting thru, send a photo or scanned copy to them.

Thank you for making this post Spot. We've had issues with our fax machine after changing service providers. I apologize for the inconveniences. If you email it over to me I will consider it submitted and you are free to launch at your leisure.
