I suppose I'm #4.

Remember, you gotta sign paperwork with me before 8AM on Saturday morning.  I'll be launching then to show you all how to fish.   >:D  If you show up later, you need to find me on the water.  Your are not officially entered in the derby until you sign the paperwork, even if you pay online.

I update the front page block.  It's $30 if you pay online by Thursday Sept 17, otherwise it's $35 onsite.  If you are Paypal adverse, PM me and we can work it out.  Also the paypal link should let you pay with a credit card if you are are not registered at Paypal.

-Allen

PM Allen "polepole" and I'm sure work something out with you.

bsteves - thanks for the help.  I'll settle up with polepole and plan on being there, and will try to help out with some chips, salsa, and a little fire wood for the pot luck.  Looking forward to being there and meeting you - amb

Where is the "central meeting place" ,for lack of better term?  Where do we sign our paperwork and pay, meet and greet before hand etc. etc.  Pelican?  Campground?   Will likely paypal on wed once I can get a good look at ocean predictions. I normally try to hit the surf at first light to maximize fishing time before the wind picks up and want to get all the paperwork out of the way before then.  Might swing by friday night take care of it and say hello?

on another note: (speaking as a psudo local)

If you want "local friendly" food (pub grub) hit the Sportsmans tavern in town (at the 4 way stop) This is where the dory guys/actual full time locals eat, the food is good, fairly priced and not that smokey before 7 ish.  The pelican may have great beer but its not really a first choice with the local folks, its where the tourists eat.  Not knocking the pelican, good food too, great beer, etc. It's just new money Pacific City.  If you want old school, what Pacific City used to be before the development, give the Sportsmans Tavern a shot.  (not affiliated with Sportsmans, other than I like their burgers ;D and would rather share a table with a dairy farmer  than a mortgage broker ;D)

I'll be at Site #29 at Web County Park.

I was watching this also.. Not what you want to see.  The prediction is often wrong, and its only Tuesday, but its not a positive trend.  If it stands its not the kind of conditions I fish offshore. :(

It's a little early for an accurate forecast.  Some of the surfing models are calling for 4.5ft swell at 17sec that day (Good) out of the SW (Bad), others are calling for 6ft at 9sec (Bad) out of the West (Good).

SW swells tend to hit the launch site straight on and can cause a backwash wave off the headland.  This is great for surfing but can be a little dicey for entry and exit.

West swells tend to leave a good launch/landing area on the extreme north end of the beach.

There's a possibility of an 8ft+ swell hitting on Saturday evening (give or take a half day) according to the current models.  I'll post an update on Thursday or Friday.

Holy crap! Well if it looks anything like this I'll have to make it a very short fishing day. ;)

The 9pm Thursday forecast will tell the tale.

Talked to a dory fisher friend of mine today, he said it was very foggy today on the way out.

Anyone have a bit of camp space available for a tent on Saturday night?
